Day 2 (Accra City Tour): DuBois Center, Jamestown, Kwame Nkrumah Park - Moderate - Hotel to tourist sites and back
  • After breakfast, start your day exploring Accra, Ghana’s century-old capital, with a visit to the DuBois Center for Pan-African Culture, the former home of Dr. W.E.B. DuBois. Then, take a drive or stroll through Jamestown, the colonial heart of the city, where you’ll see the historic Ussher and James Forts, built by the Dutch (1650) and British (1673), along with the iconic Lighthouse that once guided ships into Accra’s harbor.
  • Next, visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Museum, honoring Ghana’s first post-independence President, followed by a stop at the Independence Arch and the historic Osu Christiansborg Castle.
  • Experience Ghana’s artistic traditions at Nungua, where craftsmen create fantasy coffins shaped like fish, cars, and more—symbolizing the professions of the departed. After lunch, immerse yourself in local creativity at the Arts and Craft Market, where treasures from across Ghana and West Africa await.
  • Later, you’ll return to the hotel

Day 3 (Accra - Kumasi): Cultural Center, craft villages - Moderate - Accra to Kumasi

These villages include Ahwiaa, where woodcarvers produce Ashanti stools, fertility dolls, and walking sticks; Ntonso, where Adinkra cloth is processed; and Bonwire, where Kente cloth is woven. Kente, a very colorful fabric, is traditionally worn on festive and significant occasions such as marriage ceremonies and child naming ceremonies.

Day 4 (Kumasi Full Day Tour): Royal Manhyia Palace, cultural performances - Active - Hotel to sightseeing locations and back
  • After breakfast, embark on a fascinating tour of Kumasi, the heart of the Ashanti Kingdom. Visit the Royal Manhyia Palace Museum, once the residence and office of former Ashanti Kings. Here, centuries of regal history come to life through relics and artifacts dating back to 1700.
  • Witness the grand arrival of King Nana Osei-Tutu II, carried in a palanquin, as he takes his place in the state. Experience the powerful tradition of Ashanti subchiefs reaffirming their oath of allegiance, all adorned in magnificent traditional regalia. The atmosphere is vibrant, with the public dressed in black and white, rhythmic drumming, and spirited dancing enhancing the celebration. On this special day, the King also welcomes distinguished guests and receives ceremonial gifts, making it an unforgettable cultural spectacle.
