Have you always dreamed of taking a river cruise? I did! In August 2022, my dream came true. It was everything I had imagined and more. On the first night of our cruise, Hoyt proposed to me!

I just knew I had to plan a Cooking Mom Vacation and bring a group on this AMAZING trip, so I did. We just got back from the trip last week. Everyone in my group loved it and said it was one of the most fabulous trips ever! I agree!

A river cruise really is the ULTIMATE way to see Europe! Every day you get to see so much gorgeous scenery as you cruise the river. During the day, you can hang out on the boat and relax, or you can get off to go on fun excursions exploring different cities.

There are lots of different river cruise lines. Some are much better than others. On this trip, we are going first class all the way! We’re going top-of-the-line, but I’ve negotiated great pricing you won’t be able to find anywhere else. This trip is a great value!

Uniworld is voted the ABSOLUTE BEST! It’s the ONLY true All-Inclusive river cruise company. That means on the ship, ALL of your wine, beer, champagne, and even your cocktails are included! Tipping and your shore excursions are also included.

We’ll be on the gorgeous S.S. Maria Theresa, voted one of the most beautiful new ships! The cabins are bigger than most, and the whole boat is stunning!

But it’s not just the ship that wowed us. The meals on the ship and the wine are over the top.

The crew will do many special things to pamper us and make us feel special from gorgeous cheese and fruit plates to desserts to die for, like this cake that mapped our river cruise route.

The breathtaking scenery from Passau, Germany to Budapest, Hungary is something you’ll never forget.

We’ll spend 8 glorious days cruising the Danube. We’ll make stops along the way in Germany, Austria, Slovakia, and Hungary. The itinerary is amazing!

You’ll have the chance to visit a small family winery in Austria that produces some of the best Riesling wine in the world.

We’ll also get to experience a private concert and opera in Vienna! I’m so excited to be going back to beautiful Budapest. At night, the palaces and the city are all lit up. It’s one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen!

And the food! We’ll get to eat Hungarian Sausage and the best strudel ever.

We’ll shop for spices at the huge market in Budapest!

This is not your typical big cruise ship. There are only 150 passengers on board. It’s such an intimate wonderful experience. The staff will pamper you and take care of your every need. They know your name and your favorite cocktail in no time!

It’s always a good idea to fly in a couple of days before we board the ship. I’ve put together two super fun days before in Munich, Germany, before we board our ship. It’s one of my favorite cities. We’ll stay 2 nights in a charming hotel in a great location in the Marienplatz, which is right near all the action and the famous Hofbrau Haus! ! We’ll wake up to a beautiful breakfasts with coffee, Bavarian breads and jams, fresh fruit, eggs and more! It’s so good!

Our first day in Europe is going to be so much fun! We’ll tour Munich and have a wonderful German welcome meal! 

On Saturday, we’ll be able to explore Munich some more! I timed this trip so that we’d get to experience an authentic German festival. It’s like a small Oktoberfest. It’s got a huge beer garden, wonderful pop-up German restaurants and the best giant fresh baked pretzels!

Get ready for grilled sausages, salmon over an open flame, music, German desserts and more. It’s so cool!

On Sunday after breakfast, I’ve arranged for us to be driven to Passau, Germany, about 90 miles away, to board our gorgeous ship. Let the magic continue for our amazing cruise on the Danube!

• Transfers: Transfers are not included if you are on a different flight than Amy, The Cooking Mom. If you are arriving at a different time than Amy, we can book your transfers, but they will be an extra cost. Transfers leaving the Uniworld ship are included.
