Saturday, January 24 – Discovering Angkor Wat & the Temples of Angkor

We’ll start our day early with a magical sunrise visit to Angkor Wat, one of the most iconic wonders of the world. As the first light touches the temple’s majestic towers, we’ll walk through its vast halls, admire intricate carvings, and learn about the powerful Khmer Empire that built this marvel between the 9th and 13th centuries. Some of the small shrines are still in use today, offering a glimpse into living tradition. After this unforgettable sunrise experience, we’ll return to our hotel for breakfast—or enjoy a packed breakfast prepared especially for us. Later in the morning, we’ll set out on a full-day journey through some of Angkor’s other famous temples. We’ll begin at the hauntingly beautiful Ta Prohm, where ancient ruins are slowly being reclaimed by nature. Towering fig trees grow through the stone walls, creating a surreal jungle atmosphere. Our next stop is Ta Keo, an unfinished yet striking structure that offers a peaceful charm and fewer crowds. We’ll then explore the vast, ancient city of Angkor Thom, once home to over a million people. At its heart is Bayon Temple, known for the 216 giant stone faces smiling down from its towers. We’ll also visit the Terrace of the Elephants and the Terrace of the Leper King, both adorned with beautifully preserved carvings that bring Angkor’s rich history to life. We’ll return to our hotel for a well-deserved break and enjoy lunch on our own. In the late afternoon, we’ll head back for a second, more relaxed visit to Angkor Wat, this time entering through the rear gate. Surrounded by a vast moat, this 12th-century temple—believed to be the largest religious building in the world—was built to symbolize the Hindu universe, with its central tower representing Mount Meru. After a full day of discovery and awe, we’ll return to our hotel to relax for the evening.

Sunday, January 25 – Exploring Hidden Temples & Timeless Craftsmanship

This morning, we’ll journey off the beaten path through the scenic Cambodian countryside to discover two of Angkor’s most enchanting sites. Our first stop is the mysterious Beng Mealea, a sprawling jungle temple built in the early 12th century by King Suryavarman II. Often considered a prototype for Angkor Wat, this temple is now beautifully cloaked in thick vegetation, its crumbling ruins creating an unforgettable Indiana Jones atmosphere. Elevated walkways provide access to many areas, but some corners may require a bit of adventurous climbing. After a traditional Cambodian lunch at a local restaurant, we’ll continue to Banteay Srei, known as the "Citadel of Women." This petite red sandstone temple is celebrated for its intricate and remarkably well-preserved carvings, offering a deeper glimpse into the beliefs and artistry of the Angkor civilization. Built in the 10th century and dedicated to Shiva, it’s a jewel of Khmer craftsmanship. We’ll return to our hotel in the late afternoon, with time to rest and reflect on the beauty and mystery of Angkor’s lesser-known wonders.

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch

Monday, January 26 – Floating Villages on the Great Lake

Today we set off on a peaceful morning excursion to the shores of Tonlé Sap, Southeast Asia’s largest freshwater lake. After a short transfer to the village of Chhong Kneas, we’ll board a private local boat and cruise through the fascinating floating villages. Along the way, we’ll witness daily life on the water—floating schools, homes, markets, and more—all offering a unique perspective into Cambodia’s lakeside communities. While cruising, we’ll enjoy refreshing drinks as we learn about how local families adapt to seasonal changes and preserve their traditions on this vital waterway. We’ll return to Siem Reap by late morning, with the afternoon free for leisure or personal exploration.

Meals: Breakfast

Tuesday, January 27 – From Siem Reap to Phnom Penh & Nighttime Culinary Adventure

This morning, we’ll say goodbye to Siem Reap and transfer to the new Siem Reap Angkor International Airport for our flight to Phnom Penh. Upon arrival, our guide will greet us and escort us to our hotel in the heart of the capital.

After settling in, we’ll get a taste of Phnom Penh’s vibrant street food culture on a Nocturnal Foody Feast. Hopping aboard local tuk-tuks, we’ll weave through the city’s lively neighborhoods, stopping at four handpicked, family-run restaurants. We’ll sample regional dishes bursting with flavor and visit a cozy local bar for craft beer and cocktails. Along the way, we’ll uncover the cultural roots of Khmer cuisine and how it shapes the flavors of Southeast Asia.

This unforgettable culinary experience is the perfect way to dive into Phnom Penh’s lively spirit.

Meals: Breakfast, Street Food Dinner

Wednesday, January 28 – Royal Capitals & Countryside Culture

We’ll start our day early with a drive into Cambodia’s royal past, heading first to Phnom Udong, the country’s capital from 1618 to 1866. Perched across two scenic ridges, this site features a collection of sacred stupas, temple ruins, and an active mosque used by Cambodia’s Cham Muslim community. Climb to the summit for sweeping views of the countryside. Our journey continues to Kampong Tralach, a village famed for its 100-year-old pagoda, Wat Kampong Tralach Leu. Inside, we’ll admire incredibly well-preserved murals depicting rural Cambodian life, offering a rare artistic insight into the past. By late afternoon, we’ll return to Phnom Penh, filled with new stories and snapshots of Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage.

Meals: Breakfast

Thursday, January 29 – Farewell Cambodia

Today, we’ll bid farewell to Cambodia. After breakfast, we’ll transfer to Phnom Penh International Airport for our departure flight. Our journey may be ending, but the memories we’ve made—from ancient temples to floating villages—will stay with us for years to come.
