2028 Ghana Culture Experience

Jun 7, 2028 to Jun 14, 2028
Accra, Kumasi, Cape Coast (Ghana)

Some trips you take. This one takes you.

Eight days across Ghana — the palaces of the Ashanti, the rainforest canopy, the castles on the Gold Coast — ending with a name given to you by village elders.

This is a small, fully guided group departure. Comfortable hotels in the right places. An English-speaking guide with you the whole way. Private touring in a private vehicle, and every entrance fee in the itinerary already paid. You don't plan a thing. You show up, and you're present for it.

First time using your passport? This is the trip to use it on. You will not be figuring out a strange country by yourself — you'll be with a group, with a guide, and with someone who has answered these questions before.

June 7–14, 2028 · Accra · Kumasi · Cape Coast · 8 days, 7 nights

Spots are limited and the group closes when it's full.

The journey, day by day

Day 1 — June 7 · Arrival in Accra

Met at Kotoka International Airport and transferred to the Labadi Beach Hotel. Welcome drink, check-in, and the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2 — June 8 · Accra city tour

The National Museum, Independence Square and the Black Star Gate, the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and Museum, and historic Jamestown.

Day 3 — June 9 · Accra to Kumasi

Overland through the forest belt, stopping at the Aburi Botanical Gardens and Craft Village on the way to the seat of the Ashanti Kingdom.

Day 4 — June 10 · Kumasi, full day

Adanwomase and Ntonso Adinkra villages, the Ashanti Traditional House, the Cultural Centre, and the Royal Manhyia Palace Museum.

Day 5 — June 11 · Kumasi to the coast

Assin Manso Ancestral Slave River Park, then Cape Coast Castle and the Door of No Return — a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Day 6 — June 12 · Kakum and the naming ceremony

The 350-metre canopy walkway suspended 60 metres above the rainforest, then a village ceremony where elders give you your African name.

Day 7 — June 13 · Elmina Castle

Ghana's oldest European monument, built in 1482, and the fishing harbour below it — then the return transfer to Accra.

Day 8 — June 14 · Farewell Accra

Morning at the beachfront or last-minute shopping, then your transfer to the airport for the flight home.

Four moments you'll never forget

The Door of No Return

Cape Coast Castle, built in 1667. Your guide walks you through the governor's quarters, the condemned cells, and the door itself.

The Canopy Walkway

Kakum National Park: 350 metres of suspended bridge, 60 metres above the rainforest floor of the Attandaso Reserve.

Your Naming Ceremony

Libation, drumming and dancing, then the elders give you an African name drawn from the day of the week you were born.

The Kente Villages

Bonwire, Ntonso and Ahwiaa, where weavers, carvers and Adinkra printers still work by hand.

How paying for this works

1. A $200 deposit holds your spot

Per person, non-refundable. This is what locks your room and your seat in the group.

2. Pay monthly, at your own pace

Any amount, any time, between your deposit and the final payment date. No penalty, no interest, no minimum. Pay $150 one month and $400 the next — it's your schedule.

3. Final payment due April 1, 2028

Everything is paid off before departure. Final documents and your pre-travel briefing follow shortly after.

Booked early? You have longer to spread it out. That's the whole reason the trip is announced this far ahead.

Who this trip is for

Anyone who has been meaning to get to Ghana and hasn't had a reason yet. Solo travelers are welcome — say the word and we'll match you with a roommate at the shared rate, or take a room to yourself. Couples, mothers and daughters, church groups, sorority sisters, friends who've been talking about this for years: come as you are, come with who you want.

You should be comfortable on your feet. There is real walking here — castle stairs, uneven ground, and a suspended canopy walkway that takes some nerve. None of it is a race, and nothing on the itinerary is mandatory.

Before you book

Deposits
The $200 per-person deposit is non-refundable. If you cancel more than 60 days before arrival, your deposit can be moved to another Roseway date or trip.

Cancellation fees on the balance
60–31 days before arrival: 40% of the tour
30–7 days before arrival: 75% of the tour
6 days or less, or no-show: 100%, no refund

Passports
A valid passport with at least six months' validity beyond your date of entry into Ghana is required, plus at least one blank page for entry stamps. If you don't have a passport yet, start now — this is the single most common reason travelers miss a departure.

Visas
All visitors need a Ghana entry visa obtained before travel. Apply at Ghana's official portal, evisa.immigration.gov.gh. There is no visa on arrival for U.S. tourists, and airlines can deny boarding without one. Budget for the government fee — recently around $100 for a single-entry tourist visa — and allow several weeks during busy periods.

Vaccination
Proof of yellow fever vaccination is required for entry to Ghana for all travelers 9 months and older and is checked at the port of entry. Carry the yellow card with your passport.

Travel insurance
Strongly recommended and available through Roseway Unique Services. Given the cancellation schedule above, insurance is the only thing that protects your money if life happens.

Hotels
Hotels are confirmed as listed or a comparable property of the same standard.

Pricing
Rates are per person in the occupancy listed and are subject to availability at the time of booking.
