Each option has different benefits and payment policies. The plan goes into effect the date your payment is received and is non-refundable and non-transferable.
Effective Feb 18, 2021 a Supplemental Upgrade is available for all insurance plans. This optional add-on provides increased coverage and must be purchased with an insurance plan and is not available as a stand-alone plan. This added coverage also satisfies the coverage requirements for Costa Rica.
For GPP and GPP+ the cost is an additional $20 per person [all ages]. Benefits are:
- Increase in Trip Delay from $300 to $2000
- Increase in Emergency Medical Expense/Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains from $25,000 to $50,000
Supplemental Upgrades
For travelers seeking higher limits, consider purchasing VPP with Supplemental Upgrade, VPP+ with Supplemental Upgrade, GPP with Supplemental Upgrade or GPP+ with Supplemental Upgrade. Each of these plans provides the same benefits with the upgrade of coverage limits; $2,000 Trip Delay and $50,000 Emergency Medical Expense/Emergency Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains. Add $20 per person to the pricing listed above. Or consider purchasing VPI with Supplemental Upgrade. This plan provides the same benefits with the upgrade of a $2,000 Trip Delay limit. Add $12 per person to the pricing listed above.
GPP AND GPP+ PRE-DEPARTURE COVERAGE
Group Protection Plan (GPP)
You can cancel your vacation for any reason and receive a refund in the form of a future travel certificate. GPP must be added to your booking within 7 days of providing names and no later than final payment due date (June 12, 2023). This plan is not available with non-refundable hotel rates or air only. Once purchased, your plan cost is non-refundable.
Group Protection Plan [GPP] Pre-Departure Waiver
The following benefits are provided by Vacation Express and are not insurance benefits.
Cancellations: You can cancel for any reason a minimum of 2 hours prior to original scheduled departure time as indicated in your travel documents or no later than 9AM ET the day of arrival for hotel-only bookings. When you purchase the GPP, all applicable cancellation charges [does not include change fees or reduced deposit plan fees] as per your Terms and Conditions contract will be refunded in the form of Vacation Express future travel certificates, known as a GPP Voucher, less the GPP plan cost except for airline tickets issued as part of a contracted commercial air group, which may not have any residual value. Travelers who purchased individual commercial airline tickets will receive the airline ticket numbers [or paper tickets] for future use with the airline and be advised of the ticket cost. Airline cancellation, change or rebooking fees may apply. A one-time VE change fee will be waived per person with GPP.

Cancellations: You may cancel your vacation for any reason prior to departure and receive a refund for the full package price in the original form of payment less the GPP+ plan cost [does not include change fees or reduced deposit plan fees]. All cancellations on GPP+ must be received by Vacation Express up to 2 hours prior to original scheduled departure time per your documents or by 9am the day of arrival for hotel-only bookings.
