Munich is the capital of Bavaria and the third largest city in Germany. It offers a mix of historic and modern architecture which makes the city so interesting to visit.

Oktoberfest is an annual festival held in Munich, Germany, and is one of the largest and most famous beer festivals in the world.  Oktoberfest features traditional Bavarian music, food, amusement rides, and parades, but above all, it is renowned for its beer tents and halls. The festival grounds are transformed into a massive beer village, hosting several large and smaller beer tents. These tents are set up by various breweries and serve their own specially brewed Oktoberfest beer, which is a strong and flavorful lager known as Märzen.

  • Tuesday Sep 30th - FREE DAY (Munich) : Lying right at the heart of Europe, the capital of Bavaria is often referred to as “Germany’s secret capital.”  Munich is understandably one of the country’s most popular tourist destinations and it never fails to charm with its vibrant cosmopolitan atmosphere and cavalcade of fine buildings, museums, shops, and green spaces.  Today is your opportunity to explore this vibrant city at your own pace.  No activities or entrances are included.  The city is home to stunning landmarks such as the majestic Neues Rathaus (New Town Hall) in Marienplatz, the iconic Frauenkirche (Cathedral of Our Dear Lady), and the beautiful Nymphenburg Palace.
One of the must-visit attractions in Munich is the Englischer Garten (English Garden). It is one of the largest urban parks in the world and is perfect for leisurely strolls, picnics, or even surfing on the standing wave in the Eisbach river. You can also visit the famous Hofbräuhaus, a traditional beer garden, to enjoy some authentic Bavarian beer and hearty local cuisine.
If you're a fan of art and culture, Munich won't disappoint. The city is home to several world-class museums, including the Alte Pinakothek, Neue Pinakothek, and Pinakothek der Moderne, where you can admire an impressive collection of European art and contemporary masterpieces.
For those interested in history, a visit to the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site is a moving and educational experience. It provides insights into one of the darkest periods in human history.
Munich also offers fantastic shopping opportunities along the bustling shopping streets of Maximilianstrasse and Kaufingerstrasse. Don't forget to indulge in some delectable Bavarian delicacies like pretzels, sausages, and Weisswursts (traditional white sausages).
Overall, Munich is a city that seamlessly combines rich history, stunning architecture, cultural treasures, and an unparalleled beer culture. It's definitely a destination worth exploring!

  • Wednesday Oct 1st - (Munich) : Oktoberfest - Breakfast at the hotel. A private transfer will pick the group up at the hotel to bring you to the Oktoberfest
festival grounds. Explore on your own to experience the attractions you might have missed the first day, or revisit your favorites. A return transfer will bring you back to the hotel at the end of the day. (note: only 1 transfer is included per direction, so the group must travel together)

  • Thursday Oct 2nd - (Neuschwanstein) - Today your local guide will accompany you to the region south of Munich called Upper Bavaria. You will see beautiful landscapes, mountains and lakes. The first highlight will be the famous Neuschwanstein castle. From 1869 - 1886 king Ludwig II had built the Neuschwanstein castle "in the authentic style of the old German knights". The socially aloof king commissioned the building of the castle as a retreat from the public eye.  Ironically, after his death, the castle became the most visited place in Europe. The setting of Neuschwanstein could not be more idyllic. During a guided visit, you will see the king's residential and representative rooms that are located on the third and fourth floors of the palace. The rooms on the second floor remained in the shell and today house functional rooms of the museum.  Next, you will visit Ettal Monastery a big Benedictine Abbey and Baroque Church with Dome Fresco. After the visit of the Abbey you will enjoy a guided tour of the brewery and distillery. The brewery is one of the few remaining genuine monastery breweries owned by monks. The distillery is famous for its Ettaler Klosterliqueur, which owes its origin to the monastic medicine of the Middle Ages. After the guided tour, you can browse in the monastery store and buy products for home. Return to your hotel in Munich at the end of the tour.

  • Friday Oct 3rd - Fly back to your destination from Munich airport : Standard Private Car transportation to the Munich airport from the Platzl Hotel.
