Begin your day with a transfer from your hotel to Jorge Chávez International Airport for your flight to Cusco (flight not included). Upon arrival in Cusco, a representative will greet you and escort you to your hotel. We recommend taking it easy on your first day in Cusco to acclimatize to the altitude.

After lunch, explore the Ollantaytambo Fortress, one of the last surviving Inca villages. This archaeological site served as both a strategic military stronghold and a resting place for royal delegations during long journeys. Wander through the preserved structures, including defensive walls and towers, that once protected the citadel from invasions.

Upon arrival, a representative will assist you in walking to the bus station, where you will take a shuttle up to the iconic Machu Picchu citadel.

Embark on a guided tour of this extraordinary archaeological wonder, first discovered in 1911 by explorer Hiram Bingham. Nestled atop a mountain saddle overlooking the Urubamba River and surrounded by lush tropical forest, Machu Picchu is a masterpiece of landscape architecture. Believed to have served as a place of worship, a site for star-gazing, and a private estate for Inca Pachacutec, the site is divided into two main areas. The agricultural sector includes terraced mountains and food storage facilities, while the urban area features a sacred zone with temples, squares, and royal tombs. Marvel at the intricate stairways and stone-carved canals that make this site a true testament to Inca ingenuity.

After the tour, enjoy lunch at Café Inkaterra. Following lunch, return to Aguas Calientes and board the train back to Ollanta or Poroy Station. Upon arrival, a transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel in Cusco, where you can relax after an unforgettable day.
