The initiative will entail a donation to a local organization or saving some space in your luggage to pack some much needed supplies such as books, art supplies, pencils, etc. You’ll make a priceless impact in the lives of local children and families.

This is completely voluntary so please do not feel obligated to participate. I have contacted one of the organizations focused on Child Welfare called The Backpack to get more direction on how we can help. More details will follow as we get closer to our departure date.

Is This Trip Right for You?
This active program covers a good amount of ground each day. Expect from three to four hours walking on some touring days. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes. A few early wake-ups are required. There are two long days spent on the coach between eSwatini and Hazyview, as well as between Hazyview and Johannesburg. For your comfort, several stops will be made along the way including a lunch break. While the majority of the tour will be performed in an air-conditioned motor coach, game drives will be conducted in small safari vehicles that cannot be air-conditioned. While the majority of South Africa is malaria-free, visitors to Kruger National Park are encouraged to consult their health care providers regarding malaria prophylaxis. We suggest you check with your health-care provider before signing up for this tour. During this tour, you may come into proximity of wild animals whose actions can be unpredictable. Certain inherent risks are involved which should be considered at your own discretion.

    Travel Insurance
Missing a vacation is bad enough… losing the money you paid for your vacation is even worse. Also, keep in mind that when traveling, ANYTHING can happen while in destination and your personal insurance may take time to process a claim leaving you left in the country until your bill is paid.  Travel insurance is therefore REQUIRED to join this tour. Your premium is related to your trip cost, so you don’t have to worry about being over-insured. Email me (sherri@shertinastravel.com) to request a customized insurance quote. If you decide to purchase travel insurance on your own, I will REQUIRE proof prior to final payment on January 2, 2021.

    Additional Notes
    • Traveling abroad requires a passport valid for six months beyond your travel dates. Your passport should not expire before September 30, 2021.
    • Upon entry into South Africa, passport holders are required to have at least one, entirely blank (unstamped) visa page (i.e. one side of such a page not front and back thereof) in their passport, each time entry is sought into South Africa. These pages are in addition to the endorsement/ amendment pages at the back of the passport. South African government regulations prohibit airlines from boarding passengers without the required blank visa page.
    • Children Under 18 traveling to South Africa:
Effective October 1, 2014, the South African Department of Home Affairs has introduced new documentation requirements for visitors under the age of 18 years traveling to South Africa. Passengers traveling with children under 18 to South Africa are responsible to determine the requirements and to prepare the correct documentation. Two parents traveling together with a child under 18 must produce an unabridged English-language birth certificate of the child reflecting the particulars of the parents of the child. When one parent is traveling with a child, he/she must also provide an affidavit from the other parent registered as a parent on the birth certificate of the child, authorizing him or her to enter South Africa with the child he or she is traveling with, or a court order granting full parental responsibilities and rights or legal guardianship in respect of the child or, where applicable, a death certificate of the other parent registered as a parent of the child on the birth certificate. Children under 18 traveling without parents require additional documentation.
    • Make sure you are up-to-date on routine vaccines before every trip. These vaccines include measles-mumps-rubella (MMR) vaccine, diphtheria-tetanus-pertussis vaccine, varicella (chickenpox) vaccine, polio vaccine, and your yearly flu shot.
The CDC recommends you to visit your doctor (ideally, 4-6 weeks) before your trip to get vaccines or medicines you may need.
