Assin Manso Slave River Tour

At 9:00am, we’ll embark on our journey to Assinmanso. En route, we’ll drive past picturesque villages and through lush evergreen forests, giving you a chance to take in the breathtaking local scenery. Our itinerary includes a stop at Assin Manso, a significant site in Ghana’s history where the mortal remains of two former slaves from the United States and Jamaica were re-interred in August 1998 during Ghana’s inaugural Emancipation Day Celebration.

While there, you’ll also have an opportunity to visit the “Slave River”, a historically poignant site where captured Africans were bathed before their confinement in the Slave Castles, ahead of their shipment to the Americas and the Caribbean.

Post lunch, we’ll continue our journey to Lemon Beach Hotel, where you’ll rest and recharge for the night.

DAY 5

Elmina Slave Castle Tour

We’ll visit the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Elmina and Cape Coast Castles, pivotal locations in the trans-Atlantic slave trade. These were the final African stations for many people who were then transported to the sugar cane and tobacco plantations in the Americas and the Caribbean Islands. This mass exodus led to the creation of the world’s largest diaspora.

After lunch, we’ll return to the  Lemon Beach Hotel to relax and spend the night. These visits are poignant reminders of a tragic chapter in human history and will offer deep insight into the origins of the African diaspora.

Following this, we’ll enjoy lunch at Hans’s Cottage, an amazing location where you can observe the cottage’s resident crocodiles and a variety of bird species. For an unforgettable memory, you even get the chance to touch a live crocodile, under careful supervision, of course!
