Before you register for the trip, please read over:
The process in the past for registering for trips was inefficient.  I have since started using a program that will provide tracking of payments, avoiding PayPal all together, as well as streamlining the gathering of travel information and tracking the agreements to  the Terms & Conditions.    I ask for your patience as there may be a glitch or two (I literally have to build all of this out in the program and HOPE I didn't miss a step).

This is a lot of information to digest. I know. I did my very best to organize this into a somewhat comprehensible booking page, however, if you have questions, PLEASE READ through this entire PAGE FIRST---before emailing/texting.  I understand it can be overwhelming, but all I ask is that you attempt to digest the information I have put together here before reaching out. Once you've read through the details, if you still have questions, you are welcome to email me at brandi@theansweristravel.com or text me at 337-349-2813.

There is no age restriction on this trip. I only charge for those ages 3 and older.  My suggestion is 5 and older, but you are welcome to  bring younger children. It's essential in the booking process that you follow the instructions correctly.  You will be asked to indicate the number of paying travelers (3 and older) at the beginning of the process and then will have to indicate the total number of travelers later in the booking process so I can account for all bodies (even a young baby);  some of the places we will be visiting has a per body (regardless of age) price, however, I considered this is my package pricing and will not be charging for those  2 and younger.    It's important to understand that the places we are visiting are businesses and their choice to charge for all bodies is not of my control.

Be prepared to be in a bus for an extended period of time on travel days.  We will have scheduled stops along the way, but you will still need to be prepare yourself and your children to be on a bus for an extended period of time.

You will need to bring sleeping bag, pillow and a towel.

It's imperative that you are at the designated meeting spot ON TIME.  Because we are not all in our own separate vehicles, if we must wait for a family who is running behind, the entire group is running behind.

Group Travel is unique.  Be understanding. The flow of the itinerary is pretty much set in stone, but anytime you work with small businesses you should anticipate a slight change in things. I will do my best to not have to make changes to the itinerary that will significantly impact the flow of this rough itinerary I've put together here, but if a change is to be made, it's imperative that you are able to "go with the flow".

About Laurel Bend:

Laurel Bend is a beautiful property on 27 acres located at 86 Oldham Drive in Falmouth, Kentucky.  The Licking River bends around the lower portion of the property, that wraps under the bridge to town, allowing for a beautiful river view and an amazing cleared space under the bridge and in the pine trees.

Laurel Bend's Purpose:

When the Miller’s daughter, Lauren, was diagnosed with developmental disabilities, her parents put every effort into helping her succeed. As a child, numerous programs were available, but as an adult, options have been limited-to-none for Lauren. So, her parents are creating them. Not just for her, but for others like her, too.

After years of praying and planning about how to provide for Lauren’s needs, the Millers saw the old Camp Northward for sale in Falmouth and knew it would be the perfect place to foster and grow their ministry.

Laurel Bend privately funds programs by utilizing every inch of their 27-acre property with family-friendly lodging, wedding chapel and reception rentals, meeting spaces for reunions/retreats and a breakfast and lunch buffet opening to the public soon.

Alpacas, fiber goats, and more are patiently waiting offsite while funds are raised for fencing and shelter at Laurel Bend. They’ll provide essential esteem-building, learning, teaching, crafting and agritourism components.

Pick up location Laurel Bend
Drive time: 13.5 hours. I anticipate 14-15 hours of time on the charter, to account for a stop or two along the way.

Anticipated arrival in Lafayette: 630-7PM to account for stops along the way.

Frequently Asked Questions:

Parking:

Will my vehicle be safe at the pick up spot in Lafayette? We will be able to leave our vehicles at my office. It is a safe area of town, however, we cannot be responsible for any theft or damage to any vehicles. The building management company will make sure that our vehicles are not towed, however. It is an open parking lot, no covered parking is available.

Charter:

Will we make stops along the way to stretch our legs?  Yes, but you still need to anticipate being on a charter for extended periods of time.

 Luggage:

Everyone will be allowed one standard size bag to store under the charter and (2) personal items to carry on the bus. Personal items can be pillows, purses or  book bag to carry snacks and things to entertain yourself on the long trip.

Food/meals:

Are we able to accommodate dietary restrictions? Unfortunately, no.

What if I cannot eat the foods available on the trip? You will not be able to go off on your own to get meals for yourself. If you prefer to drive so that you have a vehicle to go and come as you please, you are  welcome to but the per person price is the same for you whether you ride the bus or not.  Breakfast will be available at Laurel Bend. Standard items such as egg, ham, bacon and fruit will be available. Examples of food at  museums could include burgers and chicken strips.  Dinner will either be pizza, Cracker Barrel or BBQ.

What about food on travel days? We  have not predetermined the stops along the way so be prepared with snacks to hold you over in between spots. We will stop for a quick break to grab food and stretch our legs, but we will not have more than 30 minutes each stop to ensure we are at Laurel Bend at a decent time. We will have dinner on Sept 12 at Laurel Bend once we arrive.

Sleeping arrangements:

Co-ed sleeping arrangements? Yes.  I would prefer not to split up families. Therefore, you must be comfortable with sleeping in a shared space with both male and female.

Private shower/bathroom areas? Yes.

Per person pricing:

Is the bunk house stay a requirement?  Yes.

Can I drive to meet the group? Yes, but your per person price is the same as if you were riding the bus with the group.

Why is the price the same whether I am driving or riding the bus? The cost of the charter must be covered with funds collected for this trip. In order to ensure we are able to do so, the per person price is calculated based on a minimum number of paying travelers.

Why do we have to make periodic payments instead of one final due date ? The vendors we are working with all have their own terms that we must follow in order to secure our spots. In order to meet their terms, I must collect partial payments periodically.

Miscellaneous:
Do you have an itinerary? The document serves as the ROUGH ITINERARY. FINAL  DETAILED ITINERARY will be emailed 10 days before travel.

How will we communicate during travel? We will use GroupMe during our trip. I will add the primary traveler to the group and if you would like to add additional travelers to the group chat, feel free to do so. The group chat will be created after final payments are made and final rosters are confirmed.

How many travelers will be on this trip? 40-50. I anticipate  a full bus based on the interested of this trip.

Can I pay in full at time of registration? Yes.

Why is there an additional fee for those 11 and older?  The pricing for older children and adults at some of the establishments we will be visiting is more than the  younger child pricing.

What is the additional cost for adults?  $65

Do children travel without parents/chaperones? No. Every child must have a chaperone/parent present. A chaperone/parent can choose to chaperone multiple children, but no one child can travel with the group without a parent/chaperone present.

I have a traditional schooler, can they travel with us? Yes. Anyone can. The trip is designed for homeschoolers and their families, friends, cousins, aunts,  anyone!

Is a COVID-19 vaccination required to travel? We follow the local mandates of the places we visit. As of now, there is no vaccination mandate in the area.  If you are concerned about anything COVID-19 related, I would highly recommend you purchase travel insurance, whether purchasing the policy I quote for you after you register, or another policy is completely up to you.

And the most asked question of all: Why aren't you offering a pick up in between Lafayette and Kentucky? Right now, all that I am able to handle is the logistics of this trip. Once I 've run this trip and feel comfortable with all the details, then I'll consider pick ups along the way or chartering from other cities. IF YOU WOULD LIKE FOR ME TO PLAN A TRIP FOR YOU AND A GROUP YOU ARE A MEMBER OF, send me an email at  brandi@theansweristravel.com . I DO OFFER PRIVATE GROUP TRAVEL PLANNING SERVICES :)

ONE LAST THING BEFORE YOU REGISTER FOR THIS TRIP: You will be in tight quarters with others for an extended period of time. You will not be free to go off on your own. You will feel frustration from time to time when things aren't  moving along as you expect them to, BUT it is part of the experience of group travel. The last thing I want is for anyone to not be prepared for certain elements about group travel that cannot be avoided. The biggest thing is to remember to enjoy making memories with your family.
