Day 4 Hadzabe & Datoga Tribe Visits
Unforgettable today is the visit of the Hadzabe tribe to Lake Eyasi, who today still traditionally use stone tools, bows, and arrows. The last hunter-gatherers in Tanzania will take you on a journey back in time to the early days of human life for a day. The shores of Lake Eyasi are still inhabited by the Hadzabe Bushmen: hunter-gatherers who can possibly be described as one of the most interesting tribes in Tanzania and all of East Africa. Their language is similar to the Klicklaut languages of the indigenous tribes further south of Africa, in the Kalahari Desert, for example. They are open to visitors who want to get an insight into the culture. They lead a very simple life and sometimes live only in a treetop or in a cave. You will experience their lives up close and can witness their hunting skills on antelopes and baboons, with wooden bows equipped with giraffe tendons and dipped in poison.

The Datoga are semi-nomadic, they move around with their cattle, but also settle down in between and are active in agriculture. Nowadays they are also active to a greater extent in the forging and plant and produce, for example, arrowheads. The Datoga live in different regions in Tanzania, but the majority live near Lake Eyasi. dinner and overnight at Marera Lodge -FB All meals are included.
