Burj Khalifa
Dubai's landmark building is the Burj Khalifa, which at 829.8 meters is the tallest building in the world and the most famous of the city's points of interest. For most visitors, a trip to the observation deck on the 124th floor here is a must-do while in the city. The views across the city skyline from this bird's-eye perspective are simply staggering. The slick observation deck experience includes a multimedia presentation on both Dubai and the building of the Burj Khalifa (completed in 2010) before a high-speed elevator whizzes you up to the observation deck for those 360-degree views out across the skyscrapers to the desert on one side and the ocean on the other.

If you do not have appropriate documentation, you will be denied entry and any applicable fees are not covered by Travel Protection. Passports must be valid for at least 6 months beyond your return trip for international travel. Some countries require visas even with a U.S. passport.
VISAS, PASSPORTS, AND OTHER ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
US citizens with a US passport that is valid for more than six months do not need to obtain a visa prior to entry to the UAE if the duration of their visit will be less than one month. This includes US citizens with visas or entry stamps from other countries in their passports. All passengers traveling internationally are required to have a passport. Please carry proper identification (your passport) on you and do not leave it in your suitcase or hotel room. It is advisable to carry your passport with you at all times. If any visa is deemed necessary, you can purchase it upon arrival at the Dubai airport.

ALCOHOL
The Dubai Emirate allows residents to consume alcohol in that Emirate only if they have an alcohol license. Tourists can purchase and drink alcohol in licensed venues such as hotels, restaurants, and clubs. In conservative Emirate Sharjah, drinking alcohol is illegal. Tourists visiting Dubai are free to purchase alcohol from Dubai Duty-Free upon landing. Adult tourists can drink alcohol on Emirates and Etihad flights, including flights to their airport hubs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. It is illegal to drink in the street or in a public space. It is illegal to buy alcohol from an off-license vendor without an alcohol license or from the local liquor stores.
DRESS CODE
Visitors to the UAE should dress modestly, particularly in conservative areas and public places like shopping malls. Clothing should not be transparent, indecently exposing parts of the body or displaying offensive pictures or slogans. Both men and women might feel more comfortable wearing loose-fitting clothes that cover shoulders, arms and legs.
Women traveling in the UAE are not expected to cover their heads or wear the traditional Muslim attire. When visiting a mosque, women will be asked to respect the Muslim tradition and wear an abaya and cover their heads. Often, these would be provided at the mosque.
Any form of nudity is strictly forbidden; including topless sunbathing. Swimwear should not be worn in any other area outside the beach, water parks or swimming pools.
Emiratis dress conservatively in traditional dress and can be offended when people dress inappropriately or not in accordance with Islamic values.
UNAUTHORIZED MEDICATIONS
The UAE has a strict anti-drug policy, which means you should never bring any illicit drugs or prescription medicine that doesn't have prescription documentation into the city of Dubai. Airports are on high-alert to search for rulebreakers who attempt to bring their drugs into the country. Those who are caught will likely be arrested and face up to four years in prison, just like 61-year-old Perry Coppins (article here) who was detained in 2018 after he was busted for bringing his anti-anxiety medication through customs. Before leaving on your trip, check this website to see a list of all unauthorized medicines that are prohibited
