Day 1: MIAMI-HAVANA Travel Day - Overnight in Havana (L, D)

9:30 AM    Depart Miami to Havana.

10:45 AM  Arrive at Jose Marti International Airport (HAV).

11:45 AM  Group transfer in deluxe AC motor coach. Panoramic overview of the city, including Revolution Square and Jose Marti Memorial. 

12:30 PM  Welcome lunch at local private restaurant.

3:00 PM    Check-In 5 STAR hotel. Welcome cocktail.

6:00 PM    Welcome briefing for program overview at hotel meeting room.

7:00 PM    Dinner at the Hotel restaurant includes 1 bottled water and 1 local drink (soda, beer, or house wine).

 

Day 2: COLONIAL HAVANA - Overnight in Havana (B, L, D)

7:30 AM    Breakfast at the hotel

9:00 AM    Visit to Cigar Factory to learn about the art and history of this iconic industry from the procuring of the leaves to the process of hand rolling each premium cigar.   

10:30 AM  Interactive guided walking tour through Old Havana where restoration projects keep the traditional-styled buildings of this UNESCO World Heritage Site looking timeless. Interact with private artisans and small business owners, and learn about Cuba’s dual economy, in which private and government-owned businesses operate.

12:30 PM   Lunch at local private restaurant in Old Havana.

2:00 PM     After lunch, walk around the premises of Parque Central and Prado promenade. See the majestic Capitol building, the Centro Asturiano and the Grand Theater of Havana Alicia Alonso. Learn about these iconic buildings.

3:30 PM    Visit San Jose handcraft market, a 19th century storage house by the harbor turned into a huge indoor craft market. Explore and interact with various local artists.  

4:30 PM     Return to hotel.

6:30 PM    Meet private owners and taxi drivers of Classic American cars and learn about their daily challenges to keep these relics running as you cruise the streets of Havana in  pre-1959 Classic American cars. Pick up at the hotel, and drop off at restaurant.

7:30 PM   Dinner at local private restaurant.

 

 

 

Day 3: HAVANA - HISTORY AND MUSIC - Overnight in Havana (B, L)

7:30 AM   Breakfast at the hotel.

9:00 AM   This morning, we meet with local expert who will share with us his insight about the Cuban economy past and present, the US-Cuba relations and the impact of the longstanding US embargo upon the island nation. Hotel meeting room head table, microphone, and bottle of water for speaker.

10:00 AM  Depart for Hemingway Museum at Finca Vigia.

10:30 AM  Visit the museum which is supported by several non-governmental and independent organizations. Interact with local caretakers of Hemingway’s former home and learn about the life and work of the writer when he lived in Cuba.

11:30 AM  Depart for local private restaurant.

12:00 PM  Arrive at El Divino. Walk in the restaurant organic farm La Yoandra and learn about their community project with the kids and the elderly. Meet the restaurant staff. Enjoy a cooking lesson of “ropa vieja”, a popular Cuban dish and a “mojito” making and tasting experience (with ingredients from the farm) followed by lunch.

2:00 PM  Depart for Havana Compas Dance.

2:30 PM  Visit Havana Compas Dance project for a demonstration of Afro-Cuban and flamenco dance, music and art followed by an interaction with the dancers and instructors.

4:00 PM  Visit Angeles del Futuro Circus School – after school project that takes kids aged 6 to 15 on a delightful journey into the world of circus performance art! OR visit Vocal Clave de Sol, a musical community project aimed to develop vocal and instrumental skills and promote Cuban traditional music with children 5 to 19 years. Meet and interact musically with some of the students and teachers.

5:30 PM  Return to hotel.

7:00 PM  Dinner on your own (the guide will provide options).

9:00 PM  Option to attend the world-famous Tropicana Show, an old-world Vegas-style show in production since 1939.

12:00 AM  Return to the hotel.

 

Day 4: HAVANA-CIENFUEGOS-TRINIDAD Overnight in Trinidad (B, L, D)

7:00 AM   Breakfast at the hotel and Check Out.

8:00 AM   Depart to Trinidad via Cienfuegos.

10:00 AM Comfort stop at KM 139 (Las Palmas private restaurant).

11:00 AM  Arrive in Cienfuegos, also known as the “Pearl of the South”. Guided walking tour around Cienfuegos historic center. Visit the famous Terry Theater where famous artists such as Enrico Caruso and Sarah Bernhardt performed.

11:30 PM  Meet and greet with the Cantores de Cienfuegos Choir at Palacio Municipal. Enjoy a performance and interaction with the artists

12:30 PM  Lunch at private restaurant.

2:00 PM  Continue to Trinidad.

3:30 PM  Check-In to Hotel. Welcome cocktail.

7:00 PM  Dinner at local private restaurant San Jose

 
Day 5: ENCHANTING TRINIDAD (B, L) - Overnight in Trinidad (B, L)
 
8:00 AM  Breakfast at hotel.

9:30 AM  Depart for the nearby Valle de los Ingenios(Valley of the Sugar Mills) designated a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1988. Between the late 18th and19th centuries, the Valley was once home to 75 former cane sugar mills, plantation houses, barracks and other facilities related to the sugar industry. Visit the Manaca-Iznaga estate, a testimony of the development of the sugar industry back then.

11:00 AM  Continue to Finca La Lima in the Escambray Mountains, a wonderful rural farm. Interact with the owners and workers while they go about their daily farm chores milking cows and shedding horses as you explore the farm. Brew your own coffee in the local farmers’ style or give your best shot at milking a cow!

12:30 PM  Enjoy a farm to table country lunch with ingredients from the farm

2:00 PM  After lunch, enjoy a walking tour of historic Trinidad, one of the original Spanish settlements founded in 1514 and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Only a few square blocks in size, historic Trinidad is a mix of historic landmarks and majestic natural beauty. Visit some of the village landmarks like Plaza Mayor and La Parroquial Mayor Church. Watch rumba being played at Palenque de los Congos Reales. Visit a rationing store “bodega” and learn how locals buy staple foods.

4:00 PM  The remainder of the afternoon is at leisure to explore around enjoy the atmosphere of this quaint town or return to your hotel for some downtime before dinner.

Day 6: TRINIDAD-MATANZAS-VARADERO - Overnight in Varadero (B, L, D)


7:00 AM Breakfast at the hotel and Check Out.

8:00 AM  We will set off by motorcoach for Matanzas, also known as the “Athens of Cuba” or “The Venice of Cuba” for its architectural, historical, and cultural heritage as well  as its many bridges. Founded in 1863, Matanzas is an important port town located in the northern shore of Cuba, about 56 miles east of Havana. The Cuban national dance, “danzon” was created in its ballrooms as well as the “rumba” in the slave’s barracks from the 19th century.

12:00 PM  Arrive in Matanzas. Enjoy a panoramic drive around the city. Stop at Plaza Libertad and explore some of its iconic buildings that have keep their original beauty and charm. Then, walk to Lolo’s Art Gallery and workshop. Lolo is an artist that works with large pieces of art. Take some time to check the premises and exchange with the artist.

12:45 PM Continue to Varadero.

1:30 PM   Lunch at a local private restaurant.

4:00 PM  Check-In Hotel. Welcome cocktail.

7:00 PM  Dinner at leisure at the all-inclusive resort.

 
 
 
 

Day 7: VARADERO-CARDENAS - Overnight in Varadero (B, L, D)

7:00 AM  Breakfast at the hotel

9:00 AM  Depart for Cardenas, also known as the Flag City. A typical Cuban town with lively legends and beautiful colonial architecture, Cardenas is the place where the current Cuban national flag was first flown in 1850.

9:45 AM  Arrive to Cardenas and tour it's landmarks: Monument of the Giant Crab, Monument of the Bicycle and Horse Carriage, the Christopher Columbus Park with its Cathedral and the oldest statue of the famous sailor built in Latin America, and the Craftsmanship House.

12:00 PM  We will return to the hotel for lunch and break for the remainder of the day while we reminisce about all we have done during the trip.

7:00 PM    We get together for our farewell dinner at one the resort restaurants.

 
 
Day 8: FAREWELL CUBA! (B)
 
7:00 AM Breakfast at the hotel and check out.
 
8:00 AM Transfer to Varadero airport.
 
10:30 AM Depart in flight AA2450 VRA>MIA.
 
11:33 AM Arrival in Miami.

Travel Insurance to cover issues such as trip cancellation fees, medical and accidental emergencies, trip interruptions, baggage loss and/or damage is highly recommended, and covid quarantine.  By making your deposit or payment for this trip, you acknowledge that you have read this statement and understand that insurance is available and will be offered.
 
ENTRY, EXIT & VISA REQUIREMENTS
 
Travel to Cuba from or transiting through the United States by persons under U.S. jurisdiction (defined as [BE1] U.S. citizens located anywhere, and anyone located in the United States regardless of citizenship and nationality) , is regulated by the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) of the U.S. Department of the Treasury.  All travelers falling under U.S. jurisdiction must comply with these regulations.  Individuals seeking to travel to Cuba are not required to obtain licenses from OFAC if their travel is covered under the 12 travel categories authorized by a general OFAC license.  If travel is not covered by a general license, you must seek OFAC authorization in the form of a specific license.  Travelers who fail to comply with regulations may face penalties and criminal prosecution.  For travel-specific questions, please see 31 C.F.R. 515.560 and OFAC’s Frequently Asked Questions.
 

There is an $85 fee for the Visa that we will purchase for you. Cuba also requires visitors to have non-U.S. medical insurance, which is usually included in airline ticket prices on flights originating in the United States

ROOMING ALONE?
Prices are based on double occupancy. A single supplement fee will be added to the invoice if you do not select a roommate that has paid their deposit.
 
CURRENCY RESTRICTIONS FOR ENTRY


U.S. credit and debit cards do not work in Cuba. You should bring U.S. dollars or Euros to Cuba and exchange them for Cuban Pesos (CUP) at authorized banks, CADECA offices, airports or hotels. Travelers should confirm alternative payment options before traveling, as policies concerning the use of U.S. dollars in Cuba are subject to change. The Cuban government requires that travelers declare cash amounts over the equivalent of 5,000 USD.

 

CURRENCY RESTRICTIONS FOR EXIT


When departing Cuba, we advise U.S. travelers to spend or exchange CUP to a foreign currency well before reaching airport security checkpoints. Currency exchange houses in the departure area at airports are currently closed and Cuban pesos are not internationally convertible outside of Cuba.. International airlines flying to the United States include departure fees and taxes in the price of airline tickets. U.S. dollars are not accepted for payment of any additional products purchased at the airport. Under Cuban law, travelers may export up to the equivalent of 5,000 USD out of the country. Anyone wishing to depart Cuba with more than this amount of cash must demonstrate evidence that the currency was acquired legitimately from a Cuban bank.

  • Enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) to receive security messages and make it easier to locate you in an emergency.
  • Call us in Washington, D.C. at 1-888-407-4747 (toll-free in the United States and Canada) or 1-202-501-4444 (from all other countries) from 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday (except U.S. federal holidays).

 

CANCELLATION POLICY

No refund or reduction in price will be made to any Traveler for airfare, accommodations, meals, sightseeing tours, transport or any other services which are included in the tour fare but not utilized by the Traveler. 

In the event of cancellation of travel arrangements due to any reasons–we must be notified in writing... a text message is not acceptable. Cancellation charges will be effective from the time/date we receive your intentions to cancel in writing. Cancellation fees apply to the land packages and/or services.  Cancellation policies may vary by supplier. You will be advised of the applicable penalties for your reservation. Cancellation fee is $100 and the balance will be returned based on the following after the non-refundable deposit of $400 has been retained:

 

  • 120 - 91 days prior to final payment–Full payment minus non-refundable deposit plus cancellation fee ($500)
  •             90 - 60 days prior to final payment–50% of the trip cost minus non-refundable deposit plus cancellation fee ($500)
  •       59 - 21 days prior to final payment–75% of the Tour minus non-refundable deposit plus cancellation fee ($500)
  •              20 days - 7 days prior to final payment - 90% of the Tour minus non-refundable deposit plus cancellation fee ($500)
  • Less than 7 days to final payment or No Show–No Refund...100% of the tour is the penalty
  •  

For any ferry, train or flight tickets involved, the refund will be applicable as per the advised cancellation policy for that mode of transportation at the time of booking. The above policy also applies to the guest who cancels due to positive covid test, health issues or any other reason.  All refunds will be processed 45 days after receiving the cancellation request.  To ensure a full return of all monies paid, please purchase Travel Protection.

 
CHANGE FEES
After final payment, any amendments made to confirmed services are subject to a fee of $150.00 per change, plus any additional supplier fees. No changes/revisions are allowed within 30 days of departure. There are no refunds for unused services.
 
LIABILITY
The carriers, hotels and other suppliers providing travel or other services are independent contractors and are not agents or employees of Wanderlust Travel Service and/or its affiliates. Wanderlust Travel Service and its affiliates are not responsible for the acts, errors, omissions, representations Vacations, warranties, breaches, or negligence of any such supplier, or for any personal injuries, death, property damage, or other damages or expenses resulting therefrom.  Wanderlust Travel Service and its affiliates have no liability and will make no refund in the event of any delay, cancellation, overbooking, strike, force majeure, or other causes beyond their our control and are not responsible for any additional expense, omissions, delays, re-routing or acts of any government authority.
 
PASSENGER INFORMATION:
 
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) requires all passengers to provide the following:
• Full name, exactly as it appears on passport
• Date of birth
• Gender
 
Elite Excursionists cannot be held responsible for errors resulting in fees or denied boarding.
 

Reinstatement of Reservations: If your travel reservations have been canceled, and you notify us within 14 days that you want to reinstate your reservations, a service reinstatement fee of $100 ($200 for international tours) will be added to your invoice and must be paid in advance in order to apply for reconfirmation of services. Exceptions are at the sole discretion of Wanderlust Travel Service.

Last-Minute Reservations: All reservations must be made no later than 60 days prior to departure. If requested services cannot be confirmed, payment will be refunded. If services are confirmed, final payment is due within 24 hours and all applicable cancellation penalties will apply. Exceptions are at the sole discretion of Wanderlust Travel Service.

*It is highly advisable to buy travel insurance ensuring that the coverage is adequate to cover even severe conditions including cancellation charges & covid policy as well as quarantine period expenses if you test positive for covid

Double occupancy wanting 2 separate invoices (which allows you to pay separately) then follow the below steps:
  1. Each person should book separately
  2. Select 1 Traveler
  3. You will see the higher single occupancy rate appear (don't worry it will be corrected later)
  4. Proceed to complete information form to check out
  5. You will be charged the deposit for 1 person
  6. Send an email or call to provide roommate information and at that time the two bookings will be merged into a double occupancy booking
  7. The price will now reflect a double occupancy booking rate
