 The AfroFuture Festival 2025 in Accra, Ghana, is not just an event—it’s an experience that promises to inspire, entertain, and connect people from all over the world. ***Please note the days/activities are tentative, the schedule could change slightly based on performers etc, but all activities as listed will occur*** Also note, you'll depart the US on December 26th to arrive on the 27th.***

What's included in this trip:

  • International airfare, will be added on 11 months prior to trip when flight prices are available. Please note travel time will take 1 day minimum, maybe 2 depending on departure city. The departure gateway will be JFK airport in New York

  • Passport (A passport is required for travel to Africa, you must have 6 months remaining on your passport from the date you're due to return)

               Itinerary:
 
  • Day 1 (Arrival):    Saturday December 27, 2025 arrival!! Akwaaba! Welcome to Ghana! Meet, greet at the airport and transfer to your hotel. Hotel check-in is at 3:00pm. Settle in, brief orientation by your assigned tour guide. Welcome light bites and wine with an accent of gold attire at the hotel.
 
  • Day 2 (AfroFuture VIP):  Sunday December 28, 2025. Breakfast at the hotel, morning at leisure. Late afternoon departure for Afro-future festival day 1, return to hotel late night.
 
  • Day 3 (AfroFuture VIP): Monday December 29, 2025.  Breakfast at the hotel, late afternoon departure for AfroFuture festival day 2, return to hotel late night.
 
  • Day 4: (City Tour): Tuesday December 30, 2025.  Breakfast. Full day city tour of Accra.  The first visit is the W.E.B. Du Bois Centre for Pan Africanism; this is the final burial place and home of the prominent American Pan Africanist, Dr. W.E.B. Du Bois, who led the Pan-African congress between 1919 and 1927. It is currently a Pan African Center for culture and it also has a research library and gallery full of manuscripts. Continue to Ga Mashie-Old Accra, this is a contrast of Victorian Dutch and post-colonial architecture. You will drive past James Fort built in 1673, Old Accra Square and the Post Office. Drive past Ussher Fort, one of three European forts in Accra which have survived the times. Ussher Fort was built by the Dutch in 1649 as Fort Crèvecœur. Fort Crèvecœur was part of the Dutch Gold Coast. The Anglo-Dutch Gold Coast Treaty (1867), which defined areas of influence on the Gold Coast and was transferred to the British in 1868.  Interact with the local people at the Accra Harbour, (lunch is included), After lunch, visit the National Museum of History and Ethnography. This Museum houses a varied collection of Ghanaian artifacts. Objects in the archeology section range from the Stone Age period to the recent historical past. Those on permanent exhibition at the ethnography gallery include chief’s regalia, indigenous Ghanaian musical instruments, gold weights, beads, traditional textiles, stools and pottery. Your last stop for the day is the Arts and Crafts market to view a varied collection of Ghanaian handicrafted souvenirs. This offers you an opportunity to try out your bargaining skills on the local vendors and to “shop till you drop”.  Return to your hotel.

  •  Day 5 ( Elmina & Cape Coast Slave Dungeons Tour. Must Dress in All White Attire): Wednesday December 31, 2025.  Breakfast, Depart to Accra driving past several fishing villages and coconut lined beaches. Arrive in Cape Caost and visit the Cape Coast Castle which was originally started by the Swedes in1652. This Castle served as the seat of the former colonial administration of the then Gold Coast (Ghana’s former name) till 1877 when it was relocated to Accra. The guide will conduct you to the
    slave quarters and Palaver Hall where captives were bargained for and sold. This UNESCO World Heritage Monument has been visited by several world personalities including US President Barack
    and Michelle Obama, Steve Harvey, Boris Kodjoe, Danny Glover etc. Lunch at a local restaurant (your own expense). After lunch visit, the Elmina Castle another UNESCO World Heritage Monument the oldest and
    largest European structure built in sub-Saharan Africa. This was built by the Portuguese in1482 and later used as an auction market for enslaved Africans. See the Slave Dungeons and the Condemned Cell where slaves who attempted to escape were incarcerated and starved to death.

    Rest of day for relaxation.
    Evening: Part take in the hotel’s New Year’s Eve activities (Your own expense) 
 
  • Day 6: (Reconnecting with the Motherland):  Thursday January 1, 2026. Breakfast. depart for a Fihankra Ceremony-- where spiritual connections are restored that were denied for centuries. It will include a naming ceremony where you will receive your certificate of authentication that will be held at the local Chef's palace. All participants MUST be in white for the ceremony. The journey will continue to Kakum National Park, which is one of Africa's famous rainforest canopy walkways. This canopy walkway will be one of the highlights of your time in Ghana. Prepare to take a deep breath as you walk the suspended bridge and marvel at the breathtaking views that stretch for miles across the rainforest. Grab a late lunch before returning to the hotel (included). Beach Resort or hotel in Elmina/Cape Coast.
 
  • Day 7:  (Day at Leisure): Friday January 2, 2026.  Breakfast. Depart Elmina back to Accra. Arrive in Accra and enjoy enjoy the remainder of the day at leisure, relax, relate, release or enjoy the town on your own. Farewell dinner, place to be determined.
 
  • Day 8: Depart to the US based on flight times:   Saturday January 3, 2026.  Breakfast. Morning at leisure, transportation will pick up your group and take you to the airport based on flight departure times.
