Embrace your heritage through the Traditional Naming Ceremony, an emotional and symbolic event where you are welcomed back to your ancestral roots with "Akwaaba" (Welcome). As part of this sacred tradition, you will:

 Receive Your Ghanaian Name & Certificate – Based on your date of birth, you’ll be given a traditional Ghanaian name that reflects your identity and lineage.

November 6th (Day 5) Give Back to the Community 

The Black Queens Matter Movement is extending its impact beyond travel and empowerment by actively supporting a Give Back to the Community Day in Ghana. Rooted in the belief that true empowerment comes from uplifting others, this initiative is dedicated to making a tangible difference in local communities, particularly in underserved areas of Accra.

During this special event, members of Black Queens Matter Travel will partner with local organizations, schools, and grassroots initiatives to provide essential resources and support. The day will focus on:

Education Support:  Donating books, supplies, and mentorship for young girls.

 Health & Wellness:  Distributing hygiene kits and hosting wellness workshops.

 Women Empowerment:  Supporting local women-led businesses and entrepreneurship.

Community Development:  Engaging in clean-ups and sustainability efforts.

November 8th (Day 7) Marine Corps Ball (Included)

The Marine Corps Ball in Accra, Ghana, is an annual event commemorating the founding of the United States Marine Corps on November 10, 1775. Hosted by the U.S. Embassy Marine Security Guard Detachment, the ball brings together U.S. diplomats, military personnel, and Ghanaian dignitaries to honor Marine traditions and the enduring partnership between the United States and Ghana. The evening features ceremonial activities, speeches, and celebrations reflecting the rich history and values of the Marine Corps.

 

 

 

 

 

 

November 9th (Day 8) Departure "It's So Hard to Say Goodbye"

 

We know, it feels like you just got here, but it’s time to say goodbye.  Use today to check off those final items on your list for the city before it’s time to head home.  The week may have flown by, but the memories and friendships you've made will last forever.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cancellation Policy:

All participants must adhere to the monthly payment plan.  If payments are not made for three consecutive months, all previous payments will be forfeited, and your spot on the trip will be automatically released.  If travel arrangements are terminated for any given reason, it is imperative that we receive formal notification in writing. Cancellation fees will be activated from the precise moment of receipt of such communication. The exact nature of these fees will be consistent with the stipulated cancellation policy set forth at the initial time of booking with our affiliate supplier. 

Comprehensive insurance is incorporated within this agreement; however, it is a prerequisite that the trip's cost is settled in full prior to filing any claim. Kindly be advised that deposits are non-refundable and cannot be reallocated to a subsequent date or transferred to an alternative party.

Do U.S. citizens need a visa and a passport to travel? Any other ID or documents needed to travel from the USA besides a passport?

Yes, A valid passport that’s valid for at least six months after your entry date. It must have at least one blank visa page.

What type of Visa is required to travel?

Tourist Visa

Do military or senior citizen discounts apply?

The prices are already discounted, and further discounts are not available.

Can additional nights be purchased?

Yes.

Do I need to be vaccinated?

Yes. Yellow fever vaccination: A valid yellow fever vaccination certificate is required for all travelers over nine months old and must show it when you leave Ghana as well.

What if I cancel my trip?

If your trip is canceled or rescheduled for a covered reason before your trip is paid off see cancellation policy.  If your trip has been paid off than you will proceed to file a claim with the insurance, the insurance will reimburse you for your non- refundable trip payments, deposits, cancellation fees, and change fees (less available refunds), up to the maximum benefit for Trip Cancellation Coverage. Please note that this coverage only applies before you have left for your trip.

 Also, if you prepaid for shared accommodations and your travel companion cancels their trip due to one or more of the covered reasons listed in your policy, the insurance will reimburse any additional accommodation fees you are required to pay, such as a single supplement fee from a cruise line.  

If your travel companion did not complete the payments and cancelled the trip, the primary traveler will be held responsible for the full payment due or will need to pay the single supplement rate whichever is lower. 

What's the primary language spoken in Ghana?

The official language of Ghana is English. It is a multilingual country with many languages spoken.

What's the currency used in Ghana, and are credit cards widely accepted?

The Ghanaian Cedi (GHS). Credit cards are not widely used in Ghana. Credit cards are used in upscaled locations in Accra, Kumasi. Cash is preferred. Make sure you notify your credit card or debit card issuer that you’ll be using your card. You can only be able to spend in GHS while in Ghana.

What health precautions should I take before traveling to Ghana?

It's advisable to check with your doctor about any vaccinations or medications you might need. Also, remember to carry insect repellent as is a tropical destination.

Is it safe to drink tap water in Ghana?

It's recommended for tourists to drink bottled water, especially in rural areas. Enroll in Smart Traveler Enrollment Program.

What type of power outlets are used in Ghana? Do I need a converter?

Ghana uses outlets type D is the plug which has three round pins in a triangular pattern and type G is the plug which has three rectangular pins in a triangular pattern. The standard voltage is 230 V at a frequency of 50 Hz.

How do I get around in Ghana?

What kind of clothing should I pack for a trip to Ghana?

Pack breathable, lightweight fabrics that allow air circulation and prevent sweating. Line is a good choice. Ghanaian clothing is conservative, so bring clothing that covers your chest and shoulders and reaches or goes past knees.

Are there any cultural norms or etiquettes I should be aware of while visiting Ghana?

Greetings are important in Ghana, and you should greet people when you enter an area or pass a group of people. Greet people with your right hand. Be respectful to everyone, especially elders. Give up your seat for elders. You should also avoid crossing your legs and putting your hands in your pocket in front of elders. Ghana is mostly a smoke-free country, and you should try to smoke in public. You should not photograph people without asking for permission and do not photograph government buildings or military installations.
