We’d love for you to join us on this unforgettable river cruise through Portugal’s Douro Valley with a dip into Spain’s timeless charm. The Douro is often called Europe’s most photogenic river, lined with terraced vineyards, medieval villages, and golden sunsets that reflect off the water like glass. Together, we’ll savor good food, sip incredible wine, and enjoy the ease of river cruising as we explore the heart and soul of Portugal with a taste of Spain.
You may know Angie as the group trip leader behind Adventurously Yours women’s getaways and experiences designed to connect and inspire women through travel. But for this special journey, we’re opening the invitation to everyone. Bring your spouse, partner, friend, or travel buddy. This cruise is all about great company, good wine, and shared adventure.
As hosts of Adventurously Yours group journeys, we curate trips that blend exploration, comfort, and camaraderie. Whether it’s your first river cruise or your fifth, you’ll instantly feel part of the family. Expect laughter, thoughtful details, and moments that turn into lifelong memories.
Welcome to Porto — the birthplace of Port wine and the gateway to the Douro Valley.
You’ll board our elegant five-star Riviera ship, where your luggage magically appears in your cabin and a welcome cocktail awaits. As we settle in, watch the golden city glow from the deck while our ship gently drifts past Porto’s bridges. Tonight, enjoy your first onboard dinner featuring regional Portuguese flavors and local wines.
Insider tip: step out on deck after dinner to see the twinkling lights of Ribeira reflected in the Douro — pure magic.
Wake to the sight of vine-covered hills as we begin our scenic journey up the Douro. The river twists and turns through terraced slopes where grapes have been grown for centuries.
This afternoon, we’ll visit a historic quinta — a traditional wine estate — to sample rich reds and silky tawny ports. Learn how the valley’s unique microclimate shapes every glass.
Back onboard, enjoy a relaxed evening as the sun sets behind the hills — a perfect moment for a glass of vinho verde on the terrace.
After a leisurely morning cruise, we visit Castelo Rodrigo, one of Portugal’s most picturesque hilltop villages. Stroll through cobbled lanes lined with almond trees and golden stone homes. Taste the local almond sweets and liqueurs this region is famous for, and follow in the footsteps of St. Francis through the medieval ruins.
Dinner onboard celebrates regional dishes like bacalhau com natas (codfish with cream) and Portuguese pastries.
Cross the border into Spain for a day in Salamanca, one of Europe’s oldest and most beautiful university towns.
Marvel at its golden sandstone architecture, lively plazas, and market stalls overflowing with jamón, olives, and saffron. We’ll enjoy a traditional tapas lunch paired with Spanish wine — think croquetas, manchego, and rioja — before some free time to shop or explore.
Return to the ship for a relaxed evening as we sail beneath the stars.
This morning, we visit the exquisite gardens and baroque interiors of Mateus Palace, the iconic estate featured on the Mateus Rosé wine label. Wander among manicured hedges and mirrored ponds before returning to the ship.
Tonight is a highlight: an elegant dinner at Quinta da Pacheca, one of the Douro’s oldest wine estates. Surrounded by vineyards, you’ll enjoy a candlelit feast paired with their exceptional wines — a memory you’ll never forget.
Our next stop is the charming baroque town of Lamego, famous for its grand staircase leading to the Sanctuary of Our Lady of Remedies. Climb as much (or as little) as you like, then reward yourself with a taste of bôla, a savory layered bread filled with smoked meats.
This afternoon, unwind as we sail back downstream — perhaps with a pastel de nata and espresso in hand — soaking up the beauty of the Douro one last time.
We return to Porto, where old-world charm meets modern vibrance.
Today, you’ll enjoy a private tour and tasting at a world-famous port producer — learning the centuries-old process of grape stomping, barrel aging, and blending that gives Port its distinctive flavor. Sample several styles of Port in a beautiful riverside setting, then set off for a guided walking tour of Porto’s highlights, from azulejo-tiled churches to the lively Ribeira district.
Back onboard, celebrate our final night with a farewell dinner and a toast to new friendships — saúde!
After a delicious breakfast, say farewell to new friends and begin your journey home — your heart (and camera roll) full of unforgettable memories.
