Situated along the southern border of Zambia, Victoria Falls is a spectacular sight of awe-inspiring beauty and
grandeur on the Zambezi River. It forms the border between Zambia and Zimbabwe and stretches almost two
kilometers into a gorge over one hundred meters below - making it one of the world’s widest waterfalls. Dubbed
‘The Smoke that Thunders’ by locals, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a popular tourist destination for those
visiting Zambia. It is world-renowned for its sheer beauty and offers visitors the opportunity to immerse themselves
in spectacular landscapes inhabited by abundant wildlife. Visitors can look forward to a wide range of adventure
sports such as kayaking, white water rafting, ziplining, bungee jumping and bridge swinging, and those looking for
more relaxation can enjoy a sunset boat cruise, game viewing, or browsing through the vibrant local Livingstone
Market.

Livingstone Island
The best vantage point from which to witness Victoria Falls or Mosi-oa-Tunya is Livingstone Island. David Livingstone,
believed to have been the first European to discover the Falls, first glimpsed the spectacular natural wonder after
being canoed across to this very island.
Our properties, Tongabezi Lodge and Sindabezi Island Camp offer trips to Livingstone Island daily. Your journey
begins with an exciting boat ride through the fast-moving channels of the Zambezi River. Take a leap into Devil’s Pool
or Angel’s Pool for an added thrill,or watch a rainbow or moonbow stretch across the open gorge.
During your Livingstone Island tour, your guide will take you through its history from ancient times when it served as
a sacrificial site to its present-day World Heritage Site status. A delectable 5-star gourmet meal is prepared on the island to round off this magical experience.

Day 5: Mvuu Lodge Lower Zambezi, Lower Zambezi

Lower Zambezi
Located on the Zimbabwean border in the southern reaches of Zambia, the Lower Zambezi region is best known as
the home to the Lower Zambezi National Park, which features exceptional, undeveloped wildlife areas. It is renowned
for its abundant game - hippos, buffalo, crocodiles, fish eagles, and herds of elephants can be spotted, among other
species. The landscape is characterized by a rugged, unspoiled wilderness of vast floodplains scattered with indigenous
woodlands. Visitors can look forward to various wonderful activities along the Zambezi, including game drives,
walking safaris, canoe trips, and excellent tiger fishing.

Overnight: Mvuu Lodge Lower Zambezi
At Mvuu, we live close to nature. The Lodge is situated in a secluded location deep within the game-rich Chiawa area,
next to the Zambezi National Park and opposite the world heritage site of Mana Pools. Indigenous bush surrounds
the lodge, wildlife roams freely through the camp, and the unspoiled and abundant river offers phenomenal game
fishing where trophy and catch and release Tiger Fish are our specialty.

Central Kafue
Set in Zambia, the Kafue National Park is the largest park in the country and the second-largest in Africa. The
contrasting landscape of the Central Kafue features riverine bush, miombo and savannah woodlands, vast open
plains and majestic granite outcrops. Visitors can enjoy the pristine natural beauty of the diverse scenery and its
natural, unspoiled beauty. Drive along the Spinal Road for a chance to discover the most remote parts of the Central
Kafue National Park. Don't miss the opportunity to spot a wide range of African wildlife, with regular sightings of
puku, impala and bushbuck and catch a glimpse of the countless bird species that call this area home.

Overnight: Kafue River Lodge
Kafue River Lodge is based in the Lunga Luswishi Game Management area bordering Kafue National Park. The lodge
is set on 143 Hectares of private land. They have a range of biomes, from miombo woodland to plains,
dambos, and teak forests, each supporting significant numbers of game and excellent birding. Most of the activities are
operated inside Kafue National Park. They also offer safaris in Mushingashi Lunga Luswishi and have good access to
Busanga Plains when the water levels are down.

South Luangwa National Park
Bordering the Luangwa River, the northern and southern Luangwa National Parks contain some of the most
breathtaking and untouched wilderness in Africa. As a result of this and the parks’ successful anti-poaching
campaigns, the area has developed into a world-renowned wildlife haven. The South Luangwa National Park is
renowned for its walking safari, which allows visitors to view elephants, hippos and even lion close-ups under the
supervision of professional and knowledgeable armed guides.

Overnight: Kafunta River Lodge
Kafunta River Lodge is owned and operated by Anke & Ron Cowan, who have made the Luangwa Valley their home
for the past 25 years.
The 10-room lodge is located on the floodplains of the Luangwa River, away from the busier area near the park's
Mfuwe gate. During the peak season, the lodge accesses the national park via its pontoon.
Central to the lodge is a spacious bar and dining area. Built around a semi-evergreen wild mango tree and thatched
in the traditional style, it offers superb panoramic views over the Luangwa River and the South Luangwa National
Park. Excellent game viewing and bird watching from the lodge are guaranteed.
Adjacent to the bar is a refreshing infinity pool and the only natural hot spring tub in the Luangwa Valley. This unique
hot tub is fed from a source on Kafunta’s grounds, offering a constant temperature of 38 degrees.
Activities on offer include game drives (morning, afternoon and night), bush walks, village and cultural tours as well as
a wellness spa.
Since the end of 2023, the lodge also features a new private tented villa, The Sunset House, with three en-suite
bedrooms. Perfect for multi-generation families or small groups of friends seeking more privacy and flexibility.

Cape Maclear
Located on the southern shore of Lake Malawi at the tip of the Nankumba Peninsula, Cape Maclear is a little resort
town surrounded by mountains and set within Lake Malawi National Park. This town features an array of beachside
bars and local restaurants in a spectacularly scenic setting of golden sand beaches lapped by dazzling turquoise
water. Cape Maclear is a Robinson-Crusoe paradise, making it a sought-after tourist destination. Kayak over to the
nearby Thumbi island and spot the majestic fish eagle, sail across the lake and catch a picturesque African sunset, or
scuba dive into the crystal-clear depths of the lake, which boasts some of the best freshwater diving in the world.
Other popular activities include bird watching, windsurfing, hiking, swimming or shopping in the local craft markets
, island tours, and guided village walks.

Overnight: Pumulani Lodge
Pumulani is situated on the west side of the Nankumba Peninsula at the South end of Lake Malawi. The beauty of this
lake is indescribable. The beautiful sparkling colors shimmering over the water, the clear blue skies and the
panoramic vistas truly make you feel like you are in paradise. David Livingstone named Lake Malawi ‘Lake of Stars’
for a good reason. According to experts, this lake is home to more native fish than any other lake.
The ten villas are situated in such a way that they blend in completely with the natural surroundings and the cooling
grass roofs reflect the African sun.

 

 

Day 16: End of Itinerary

 

 

Cancellation policy:

  • A $500 per person deposit is required to secure your reservation.

    • $125 of the deposit is non-refundable under any circumstances.
    • The remaining $375 is refundable if canceled more than 60 days before travel.
  • Refund Structure for Cancellations:

    • 60–45 days before travel: Eligible for a 75% refund of all payments made, excluding the non-refundable deposit portion.
    • 44 days up to the day of travel: Eligible for a 50% refund of all payments made, excluding the non-refundable deposit portion.
  • The final payment is due 45 days before travel. Once the final payment is made, refunds will follow the outlined structure.

  • Travel Dates and Customization:
    This package allows for customizable dates and itineraries. Adjustments to your itinerary will be accommodated when possible; however, any changes may incur additional fees, which are non-refundable if cancellations occur.

  • Cancellation Procedure:
    All cancellations must be submitted in writing via email or certified mail to be eligible for a refund.

  • Third-Party Costs:
    Refunds exclude third-party costs not booked directly with us. Please refer to the terms of the respective providers.
