Built to resemble a paddle-wheel steamboat with a huge wedge-shaped bow, the fort has perched on a hilltop since 1793, although it was never attacked. As a defense, the only access to the fort is the Queen’s Staircase, whose 66 steps were hand-cut through solid limestone. Other historical highlights include the Governor’s House and the Governor General’s official residence since 1801. But there is much more to Nassau than history as you will see by passing the lively Straw Market on the way to the Bahamas Rum Cake Factory, where you will sample the namesake cake, which may be flavored with banana, cinnamon or piña colada. In time, you will cross Sidney Poitier Bridge, named for the first Bahamian to win an Oscar, and pause for photos of the luxurious and iconic Atlantis Resort on Paradise Island.

Nearby, you will see Parliament Square, which is surrounded by pink-hued government buildings that include the House of Assembly and the Supreme Court, where the judges and lawyers still dress in traditional British wigs and robes. The serene Garden of Remembrance lies at the back of the court building; it commemorates the Bahamians that lost their lives in World Wars I and II. The Arawaks, also known as the Lucayans, were among the first people to inhabit the Bahamas, and the guide will likely describe their exploits and how they lost control of the islands once Christopher Columbus arrived.

Limitations and/or restrictions may apply.

Should your reason for cancellation not be covered, you will receive NorwegianCare® Credits up to 90% of the non-refundable pre-paid travel arrangements booked with Norwegian Cruise Line.*

Trip Interruption1

The plan reimburses up to 150% of the otherwise non-refundable of the pre-paid, unused cruise expenses, and additional travel expenses as defined, if your trip is interrupted for one of the specified reasons provided, including but not limited to the unexpected sickness or injury of your traveling companion. Limitations and/or restrictions may apply.

Trip Delay1

The plan may reimbuse up to $1,000 if your trip is delayed for 3 hours or more for covered reasons, such as Common Carrier delay.

Accident and Sickness Medical Expenses1

Coverage up to $50,000 for Accident and $50,000 for Sickness expenses, including copays and deductibles, that you incur while you are on your trip. Coverage may be secondary to your primary and supplemental medical insurance.

In many states, coverage is excess to the primary or supplemental medical insurance that you may already have. This means that you may be asked to file a claim with your primary and/or supplemental insurance providers first and this plan will provide reimbursement for eligible expenses which were not covered by the other providers. This includes deductibles, co-pays, follow-up care, etc. that you incur within 1 year of the date of your Accident or onset of your Sickness.

Emergency Medical Evacuation and Repatriation of Remains1

Coverage up to $250,000 for the cost of necessary medical transportation services and coverage up to $25,000 for repatriation expenses. Must be coordinated by the Assistance Provider.

Baggage and Personal Effects1

Coverage up to $1,500 for loss, theft, or damage to your bags or personal effects, provided you have taken all measures to protect, save and or recover property. Secondary to any coverage you may have for the lost or damaged items.

Baggage Delay1

Coverage up to $500 if your bags are delayed by a Common Carrier for 24 hours or more. Secondary to any coverage you receive from the Common Carrier.

Depending on your state of residence, this benefit may be excess to other coverage that you may have. You may be asked to file a claim with the party or parties responsible for the loss first, before claiming under this plan.
