Experience Eastern Canada and New England through watercolor on this intimate small-ship watercolor workshop and art retreat with Windstar Cruises. Sailing from Montreal to Boston, this artistic journey consist of historic ports, rugged coastlines, and refined coastal towns with dedicated studio time onboard.
From the old-world charm of Québec City to the fishing villages of Nova Scotia and the lighthouse-lined shores of Maine and New England, each destination offers fresh inspiration and a distinctive sense of place. Between enriching shore excursions, enjoy relaxed, classroom-style watercolor sessions in a private onboard setting, where creative focus meets the ease and elegance of small-ship cruising.
Your instructor for this workshop will be Al Kline, an accomplished watercolor artist and the current President of the Watercolor Society of South Texas. Known for his strong sense of design, confident brushwork, and thoughtful use of light and value, Al brings a clear, approachable teaching style that supports artists at every stage. His instruction focuses on simplifying complex scenes, strengthening composition, and painting with intention, making him a wonderful guide for capturing the character and atmosphere of each destination we visit.
Deposit & Final Payment:
- Workshop Fee: This initial payment reserves your space in the workshop. This is taken at check-out to secure your space onboard.
- Cruise Deposit: Once you've completed the registration form, we’ll send you a direct link from Windstar to secure your cruise booking and select any excursions. This will be 15% of your base cruise fare + excursions, all deducted from the total costs listed below and tracked via invoices for your convenience.
Why two parts? This approach avoids unnecessary credit card fees, offers better price transparency, and allows you to manage all remaining payments directly through the Windstar portal at your convenience—whether you prefer to pay in full or in installments.

About The Watercolor Workshop
Watercolor workshops will be half-day sessions, for up to three hours per day. These are not full day workshops. Instruction will take place onboard in a dedicated classroom space. These workshops are designed to compliment the travel experience, not take over the day. There will be no painting or instruction during the guided excursions, as our sessions will be scheduled before or after each excursion.

Deposit & Cancellation policy:
Ship Deposit - Nonrefundable After 121 Days
A deposit is required to secure your booking. The deposit is fully refundable until 121 days prior to the trip start date. A $150 processing fee will be deducted from any refunded deposit amount if you decide to cancel before 121 days.
Workshop Fee – Nonrefundable After 180 Days
The workshop fee becomes nonrefundable 180 days (6 months) prior to the trip start date.
