January 21–30, 2028
You already know you want to go to the Galápagos. Maybe it's been sitting on your bucket list for YEARS.
You've watched the documentaries. You've seen the giant tortoises, marine iguanas and blue-footed boobies. You've imagined snorkeling with sea turtles and sea lions in water that feels like an entirely different world, and every time you see someone else go, you think: I need to do that someday.
But someday keeps getting pushed. The timing isn't right. You don't know who you'd go with. Planning the Galápagos feels overwhelming. You're not sure whether you should stay on land or take a cruise or which islands you need to see. So it just... stays on the list.
This is your sign to stop waiting.
Because I don't think I could design a better reason to finally go if I tried.
For one week in January 2028, we have our own yacht.
I chartered the entire Reina Silvia Voyager for a group of just 16 travelers because if we're finally checking the Galápagos off your bucket list, I don't want to do it halfway. I want us IN IT.
We're not staying on one island and spending our vacation going out and back. We're spending seven nights sailing THROUGH the Galápagos.
While we eat dinner, relax onboard and sleep, our yacht carries us toward our next adventure.
You go to bed after snorkeling off one island... and wake up ready to explore another.
We'll make our way through Santa Cruz, Española, San Cristóbal, Santa Fé, South Plaza, Genovesa, Santiago, Bartolomé, Rábida and Chinese Hat.
We'll hike through volcanic landscapes, walk white-sand beaches AND red-sand beaches, search for giant tortoises in the wild, see colonies of some of the strangest birds you've ever encountered, snorkel again and again and again, with opportunities to share the water with sea turtles, rays, sea lions, reef fish and whatever else nature decides to give us that day.
We're going to kayak through protected waters, climb to one of the most iconic viewpoints in the Galápagos, and do all of it with a Certified Galápagos National Park Service naturalist guide helping us understand what we're actually looking at.
This isn't a trip where you sit on a ship and look at the Galápagos from a distance. The yacht is how we get INTO it.
As if all of THAT wasn't enough... On January 26, 2028, an annular solar eclipse (aka: a Ring of Fire) will cross the sky.
And we'll already be exactly where I want to be: aboard our yacht in the Galápagos.
This is one of the reasons I was so specific about the dates when I started putting this trip together. I didn't just want to find a Galápagos sailing, I wanted THIS one.
Because imagine it.
You've finally made it to the place that's been sitting on your bucket list for years.
You wake up aboard a yacht surrounded by the Galápagos Islands, walk outside, and look up as the moon begins moving across the sun.
And that's only the BEGINNING of our day.
Afterward, we're exploring Genovesa Island: Darwin Bay, El Barranco, incredible birdlife, snorkeling and opportunities to kayak.
Obviously, Mother Nature gets the final say when it comes to weather and visibility, but we'll be there when it happens.
And that's what makes this particular trip so hard to recreate.
You can go to the Galápagos another year.
You can sail these islands another year.
But you can't come back and experience January 26, 2028 again.
And I don't know about you, but if I'm finally checking one of the biggest destinations off my bucket list...I want the version with the freaking solar eclipse.
There will only be 16 of us. The Reina Silvia Voyager has just nine cabins, each with its own private bathroom, and the entire yacht is ours for seven nights.
That means we're going to actually know the people we're traveling with.
We'll eat together, explore together, compare wildlife photos over dinner, sit outside after a day of snorkeling and talk about what we saw, and then go to sleep while our yacht carries us toward tomorrow.
If you love the anonymity of a giant cruise ship, this probably isn't your trip. If you want to come home with 15 new people who understand exactly why you can't stop talking about that one sea lion you met on Española, you're going to fit right in.
One of the reasons bucket-list trips stay on bucket lists is because planning them can feel like WORK.
So I'm taking that part off your plate.
You don't need to figure out which islands to visit, learn how to coordinate boats, or how to get from Quito to the Galápagos.
You don't need to research 47 different hotels and excursions and try to piece together an itinerary that makes sense. You just need to get yourself to Quito.
I'll take it from there.
THIS is one of the things that makes this trip so special.
We're not simply going to the Galápagos - we're spending seven nights sailing THROUGH them aboard our own privately chartered yacht.
The Reina Silvia Voyager is a modern catamaran designed for exploring the Galápagos in comfort while keeping the islands themselves at the center of the experience. She accommodates just 16 travelers across nine cabins (most of which feature private balconies), and every cabin has its own private bathroom, which is a LOT harder to find on a small yacht than you might think!
Onboard, we'll have a spacious sun deck, Jacuzzi, outdoor lounge areas, indoor lounge and dining spaces, and plenty of room to relax together after our days exploring.
I knew that THAT balance is really important for this trip.
Our days are going to be active. We're hiking. Snorkeling. Kayaking. Taking pangas ashore. Exploring islands. Looking for wildlife.
I wanted somewhere comfortable to come home to afterward. We'll be able to shower, grab dinner, sit outside with a drink, compare the approximately 4,000 photos we took that day and watch the Galápagos go by.
Then, while we sleep, Reina Silvia continues toward our next destination.
We go to bed in one place and wake up ready to explore another.
That means less time retracing our steps and more time actually experiencing the Galápagos, which is exactly why I wanted to do this trip by yacht.

Day 6 — Genovesa +
THE RING OF FIRE ECLIPSE 🌑
|
This is going to be a DAY. On the morning of January 26, 2028, we'll wake up aboard our yacht in the Galápagos during the Ring of Fire solar eclipse. Afterward, we'll explore Genovesa Island, including the white coral sands of Darwin Bay and El Barranco, also known as Prince Philip's Steps. This area is absolutely packed with birdlife, including red-footed and Nazca boobies, frigatebirds and swallow-tailed gulls. We'll also have opportunities to snorkel and kayak at Darwin Bay, where lucky snorkelers may spot rays, sea lions and potentially even hammerhead sharks. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner |
| Day 7 — Santiago + Bartolomé |
Explore the enormous lava formations of Sullivan Bay before continuing to Bartolomé Island. We'll hike through its dramatic volcanic landscape for one of the most iconic views in the entire Galápagos: Pinnacle Rock. Then it's back into the water for another chance to snorkel among fish, sea turtles, sea lions and potentially even Galápagos penguins. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner |
| Day 8 — Rábida + Chinese Hat |
Walk across the incredible red-sand beaches of Rábida, looking for sea lions, nesting pelicans and flamingos around the island's lagoon. After snorkeling, we'll continue to Chinese Hat to explore lava flows and lava tunnels before taking another dip in turquoise water looking for fish and sea turtles. Meals Included: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner |
| Day 9 — Galápagos → Quito |
Sadly, it's time to say goodbye to our yacht! We'll disembark at Baltra and fly back to Quito for one final night. Meals Included: Breakfast |
| Day 10 — Quito |
Our adventure officially comes to an end. Depart Quito at any time for your flight home — with approximately 10,000 photos of sea lions and a new personality trait called: “Remember when we had a yacht in the Galápagos?” Meals Included: Breakfast |
That's who I built this trip for. This is NOT a lie-on-the-beach-for-seven-days vacation.
We're going to be active. We're going to be outside. We're going to explore, and then we're going to come back to a beautiful yacht, shower, eat a great meal, sit outside together and let someone else sail us toward tomorrow's adventure.
If you're reading this thinking: “YES. THIS. This is how I've always wanted to do the Galápagos.”
You're exactly who I want on this yacht.
IMPORTANT: Emergency medical insurance covering emergency evacuation and repatriation of at least $200,000 USD is required for this trip. Comprehensive travel insurance including trip cancellation and interruption coverage is also strongly recommended.
Is international airfare included?: No. International airfare to/from Quito is not included. I will provide guidance and assistance with flights when we're closer to the appropriate booking window.
Do I need to be super athletic?: No, but this IS an active adventure. You should be comfortable walking on uneven terrain, getting in and out of smaller boats, and participating in the activities that make the Galápagos so incredible. There will be hiking, wet and dry landings, snorkeling and opportunities to kayak throughout our sailing.
What if I want to come but don't have someone to travel with?: COME ANYWAY! I have two dedicated solo cabins available, but if you'd prefer the double-occupancy pricing, I can assist with roommate matching. Four of our double cabins can accommodate two separate beds.
How many people are coming?: Sixteen. TOTAL.
Is travel insurance required?: Emergency medical insurance covering emergency evacuation and repatriation of at least $200,000 USD is required, but I also strongly recommend comprehensive travel insurance covering cancellation, interruption and other unexpected circumstances.
What happens if the weather doesn't cooperate for the eclipse?: The eclipse is happening on January 26 whether we like it or not! Our ability to actually see it will depend on local weather and visibility that morning, which obviously isn't something I can control. The eclipse should be considered an incredible bonus to an already incredible Galápagos itinerary rather than a guaranteed viewing experience.
Double Occupancy (aka: Two travelers sharing one cabin): $10,099 per person
Solo Cabin (aka: Your own cabin with no roommate required): $13,349 per person — only TWO available
Deposit: $600 per person
50% of your initial deposit ($300 per person) is nonrefundable.
All cancellations must be submitted in writing to Asia Lantz/Gilded Getaways.
Your initial deposit is 50% nonrefundable ($300 per person) once your booking is confirmed.
Travel insurance is strongly recommended to protect your investment against covered circumstances.
| Cancellation date | Penalty |
| On or before June 1, 2027 | Loss of 50% of deposit |
| June 2-September 1, 2027 | 50% of final payment and loss of deposit |
| September 2, 2027 and onward | 100% nonrefundable |
Here's the thing. If the Galápagos wasn't already on your bucket list, I'm probably not going to convince you to spend ten days halfway around the world looking for tortoises and jumping off a yacht with a snorkel on your face.
But if it IS?! If you've been saying for years that you're going to get there someday... I really want you to ask yourself what you're waiting for.
Because THIS is the opportunity. The itinerary is incredible, the yacht is ours, the group is tiny, and almost everything is already taken care of for you, you have more than a year to pay for it, and somehow, on top of everything else, we're going to be there during a Ring of Fire solar eclipse.
I don't think I could recreate this exact trip if I tried.
And there are only 14 spots available to book because Eric and I are taking two of the 16 spots ourselves. When they're spoken for, that's it.
I can't call and ask for another room, I can't make the yacht bigger, and I definitely can't reschedule the eclipse. 😂
If your gut is already telling you that you're supposed to be on this trip... Listen to it.
Stop saying someday. Your Galápagos trip is January 21–30, 2028.
Come get on my yacht. 🐢🛥️🌑
