Rolling hills with lush grasses and crops, farms with windmills dotting the horizon, and horse and buggies sharing the road remind you that things are simpler here in Lancaster County.
Please read first: the process in the past for registering for trips was inefficient. I have since started using a program that will provide tracking of payments, avoiding PayPal all together, as well as streamlining the gathering of travel information and tracking the agreements to the Terms & Conditions. The new program accomplishes this for me. I ask for your patience as there may be a glitch or two (I literally have to build all of this out in the program and HOPE I didn't miss a step).
This is a lot of information to digest. I know. I did my very best to organize this into a somewhat comprehensible booking page, however, if you have questions, PLEASE READ through this entire PAGE FIRST---before emailing/texting. I understand it can be overwhelming, but all I ask is that you attempt to digest the information I have put together here before reaching out. Before you register for the trip, please read over:
There is a charge for ages 3 and older; some of the places we will be visiting has a per body (regardless of age) price, however, I considered this is my package pricing and will not be charging for those 2 and younger. It's important to understand that the places we are visiting are businesses and their choice to charge for all bodies is not of my control.
Be prepared to drive. I have built the itinerary to make sense logistically, but to fit it all in, we will have to drive 30-45 minutes in between tours on two of the days.
There is going to be some free time built into the itinerary for you to explore the area--- farmer markets, roadside stands--- so much to do in the area. Expect most of our days to be full, with some free time built-in here and there. I will provide a final detailed itinerary closer to travel that will include suggested things to do on our down time. Don't blame me if you can't decide what to do---because there really is that much to take in!
If you would like to extend your stay either before or after the group trip, you are welcome to. The hotel will provide a discounted weekend rate (not the same discounted rate we are getting for the weeknights the group will be there) but a discounted rate in comparison to what you would normally pay on the weekends at their property. If you know at the time of registration that you would like to add additional nights to your stay, you will be able to indicate so in the registration process. Instructions on how to do this during registration is found below. If you decide LATER that you would like to get a quote to extend your stay, please email me at brandi@theansweristravel.com and I can get a quote for you.
Remember, that if you opt not to participate in any of the activities paid for, there will be no refund. The vibe of this trip is organized, with flexibility. This means you should be at the set meeting spot at times planned, however, if you choose to do other activities or not to participate you are free to with the understanding that you will not be refunded for portions of the trip you do not participate in.
Group Travel is unique. Homeschoolers traveling together from different states is unique. I ask that you be understanding when things may change. The flow of the itinerary is pretty much set in stone, but anytime you work with small businesses you should anticipate a slight change in things. I will do my best to not have to make changes to the itinerary that will significantly impact the flow of this rough itinerary I've put together here, but if a change is to be made, it's imperative that you are able to "go with the flow".

Traveler Members are eligible to register on NOVEMBER 17.
Tourist Members are eligible to register on NOVEMEBER 27.
Wanderer Members and ALL OTHER HOMESCHOOL GROUPS are eligible to register on DECEMBER 2.
If you want to ensure that you make this trip, it would be beneficial to purchase a membership to take advantage of the priority registration window. Scroll down a bit for more details.
Minimum # of travelers: 40
Maximum # of travelers: 60
Base Price per person age 3 and older: $282 PLUS admin fees (see below). The base price you will see at registration will INCLUDE the admin fee and will NOT be broken out like with previous trips.
Ages 13 and older supplement: $10 (the per person price for anyone age 13 and older is $292 PLUS admin fees for membership level).
Admin Fee:
Traveler $3, per person, capped at $15 per family, per trip. If you are a family of more than 5, a discount code will be provided below to reduce the overall cost of trip by the additional admin fees that should be capped after the 5th traveler.
Tourist $7, per person, capped at $40 per family, per trip. If you are a family of more than 6, a discount code will be provided below to reduce the overall cost of trip by the additional admin fees that should be capped after the 6th traveler.
Wander $10 per person, capped at $50 per family, per trip. If you are a family of more than 5 a discount code will be provided below to reduce the overall cost of trip by the additional admin fees that should be capped after the 5th traveler.

P.S. I have extended the membership to run through July 31, 2022 in order to include the Amish Country trip.
Required Hotel Cost:
Cork Factory Hotel $144 per night, including taxes for up to 3 people. The rooms sleep 4 people.
Their policy is to charge an additional fee for the 3rd and 4th person per room, however, those who register for this trip will only have to pay an additional fee for the 4th person. The per NIGHT fee is $11, including taxes. So a family of 4 would pay $155 per night, including taxes.
If you are a family of 5 and have a small infant/toddler you are able to add the child for an additional $11 per night as well, even though the room sleeps 4. If your 5th person is over the age of 5 or if you have 6 or more people, a second room would be needed.
Free on-site parking. Breakfast IS NOT INCLUDED in this price.
Total cost for (5) nights for up to three people is : $720.00, including tax.
Total cost for (5) nights for four people is: $775.00, including tax.
Total cost for (5) nights for five (5th person cannot be older than 5) people is: $830.00, including tax.

What's not included:
- Travel insurance- a quote will be provided after booking (optional but highly recommended). To give an idea of cost, a family of three (3) one adult, two children, insuring a trip for $1200.00, base rates start at $32. Adding cancel for any reason will increase your rate by approximately $40, and adding interrupt for any reason will increase your rate by approximately $10.
- Transportation-to/from and while at destinations. If flights or rental vehicle is needed, I can assist outside of this package. Email me at brandi@theansweristravel.com and we can chat about pricing.
- Meals other than lunch at the Total Amish Experience and Hershey's Chocolate World. Suggested breakfast/lunch spots will be included in final itinerary sent out prior to travel.

Today will be an informal meet & greet. Come and go as you please. Just plan to say hello and grab some goodies!

- Day 2: July 18, 2022 Bird in Hand, PA
Today is the day we will immerse ourselves in the Amish world! The privilege it will be to learn about their way of life is more than worth the investment in this trip.
First we will "witness young Jacob’s struggle in choosing the Amish church, or leaving behind family and community for the allure of the modern world. Jacob’s challenges with faith, tradition, and loved ones in a fast-changing world is a story that touches each of us, young and old, in a poignant and memorable way. More than any other Amish attraction, “Jacob’s Choice” will leave you with an understanding of what it means to be Amish, and the ties that continue to bind the community together through the centuries.
Then we will head to The Amish Country Homestead which is their reflection of their commitment to accurately and sensitively portray the Old Order Amish as they live and work in today’s world. "We like to think of the Homestead as the home of the fictional Amish family of Daniel and Lizzie Fisher, whom you get to know on screen in the Amish Experience Theater’s “Jacob’s Choice.” Inside the Homestead, you learn of Amish traditions and practices, plain clothing and life without electricity from the grid. The Fisher One-Room School is attached to the house and filled with authentic desks and furnishings from an actual Amish school. You’ll learn the tradition of teaching eight grades in one room. Next up we will join together on a climate-controlled 14-passenger mini-bus Farmlands Tours of the out-of-the-way back roads and country lanes, you’ll experience a sense of the work and family ethics that continue to mark the Amish way of life. Witness spectacular panoramas of patchwork farms unparalleled in their intrinsic beauty, still farmed with horses and mules. Roadside stands, bake shops, or a visit to a craft or quilt shop on an Amish farm are among the unique happenings enjoyed on your 90-minute Farmlands excursion. On Sundays, please note our tours do run, but we cannot stop at an Amish farm during the tour.
We certainly won't leave hungry--- we will enjoy a true, authentic Dutch PA meal together.

Day 3 July 19, 2022 Lititz and Marietta, PA
Today is about things off-the-farm.
Tour the original pretzel bakery, get a hands-on lesson in pretzel twisting using a playdough mixture, observe our bakers twisting old-fashioned soft pretzels by hand, and shop for delicious treats and souvenirs in our bakery store.
Then we'll head out to a George's Furniture store.

- Day 4: July 20, 2022 Hershey & Harrisburg, PA
Chocolate and history. There's no better combination.
We will Unwrap and taste our way through the tale of HERSHEY'S Chocolate with a theatrical experience the whole family will enjoy! From the bean to bar and everything in between, HERSHEY'S Unwrapped is sure to dazzle your taste buds, fill you with laughter and sweeten you with Hershey heartwarming moments.
We will also experience The 4D Chocolate Movie which puts you inside all the fun. Through stunning digital animation and special effects*, you become part of the show by interacting with the Hershey's Characters to help solve the mystery! *This show contains strobe lights, loud noise and theatrical smoke.
We will also create our own candy bars!!! This is the icing on the cake for me! Literally! Ever wonder what kind of candy bar you would create? Here's your chance to find out! Immerse yourself in an authentic HERSHEY'S factory experience. Choose your ingredients and design your own wrapper.
And finally, watch as the inspiring story of Milton Hershey and his HERSHEY'S Chocolate unfolds, between the historic landmarks just outside your window and the charismatic conductors sharing incredible-but-true stories!
We will enjoy lunch together as a group and then head over to the Pennsylvania Capitol building for a tour!
When President Theodore Roosevelt attended the dedication of the building on October 4, 1906, he said, "This is the handsomest building I ever saw." The Capitol was designed in the American Renaissance style by Philadelphia architect Joseph Huston (1866-1940), who envisioned the building as a "Palace of Art."
Built and furnished at a cost of $13 million, the Capitol features paintings, stained glass and furnishings by some of the best artisans of the day. The building incorporates various Renaissance designs in some of its largest rooms: Italian in the House Chamber, French in the Senate Chamber, and English in the Governor's Reception Room. It also reflects Greek, Roman and Victorian influences in its art and ornamentation. Throughout the building, Huston blended the various styles with motifs featuring Pennsylvania's achievements in labor, industry and history, making the Capitol uniquely American. Its five-story exterior is faced with handsome Vermont granite, and the roof is composed of green glazed terra cotta tile.
The Capitol's centerpiece is a spectacular 272-foot, 52 million-pound dome inspired by Michelangelo's design for St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Following its completion, the building was the tallest structure between Philadelphia and Pittsburgh for 80 years. While the building has been modernized over time, efforts to blend form and function continue today, and a special Capitol Preservation Committee ensures that as the building evolves, the artistic elements are never lost. The seat of Pennsylvania's government continues to inspire visitors with its wealth of art, its outstanding architecture, and its strong connection to the vision of the Commonwealth's founder, William Penn, who sought to establish a land that would be governed by just laws and tolerant of all religious faiths.

I bet you didn't think we would be enjoying so many sweets on this trip did you? Well, surprise! Another day filled with delicious goodies!
The Turkey Hill Experience features interactive exhibits allowing you to learn about dairy culture, the story of Turkey Hill Dairy, and how the company's ice cream and iced tea flavors are selected and created. You will truly experience what it's like to be a Turkey Hill Dairy ice cream maker for a day, including the opportunity to create your own virtual ice cream flavor. In addition, you can sit in our vintage milk truck, milk our mechanical cows, star in your very own Turkey Hill commercial, and enjoy plenty of free samples of iced tea and ice cream!
Start with a base ice cream and add in the flavoring of your choice. From there, you can add in a variety of delicious inclusions and mix in your favorite variegate.
Enjoy your ice cream creation while our instructor gives you a brief "Ice Cream 101" class.

If you register AFTER 1/15/22, you will need to "catch up" the monthly payments--meaning the deposit will be the initial deposit as stated above PLUS the monthly payment that has been paid up until that point and then you can make regular monthly payments until final due date. The invoice that is calculated during booking has a final due date of 6/1. I will email an updated invoice AFTER the booking is completed which will reflect the above payment schedule.
Cancellation/Refund Policy: Deposit is NONREFUNDABLE and NONTRANSFERABLE regardless of when traveler cancels.
60 DAYS FROM TRAVEL DATES- 100% IS REFUNDABLE, less registration/deposit fees
45 DAYS FROM TRAVEL DATE- 50% IS REFUNDABLE, less registration/deposit fees.
25 DAYS FROM TRAVEL DATE- 0% IS REFUNDABLE
If due to unforeseen circumstances, TAIT has to CANCEL a trip, all travelers will be refunded 100% of amounts paid towards the trip.
If due to unforeseen circumstances, TAIT has to RESCHEDULE a trip, all travelers who are not able to make the NEW DATE will be refunded 100% of amounts paid towards the trip, less a $25 per person fee.
Hotel: Nonrefundable if cancelled 45 days or less from travel dates.
FAQs:
Can I purchase a membership at the time of registering for the trip? Yes. Memberships will be available as an add-on at registration.
Is this trip ADA accessible? Unfortunately, no.
Can we bring strollers? Yes. You may have to park the strollers outside some of the places we visit, but you are allowed to bring in strollers.
Are we able to accommodate dietary restrictions? Unfortunately, no.
Is the hotel stay a requirement? Yes.
If we decide after we register for the trip that we would like to stay a few extra dates at the group rate and do some exploring on our own, can we do so? Yes and no. Yes, you can opt to stay a few extra night before or after the group, but it will NOT be at the group discounted rate; however, the hotel will provide a discounted weekend rate (different than what we are paying for weeknight rates). ! Why do we have to pay The Answer Is Travel, LLC for the hotel stay? In order to secure the group rates, we are required to have a minimum number of rooms booked with one group payment.
Why do we have to make periodic payments instead of one final due date ? The vendors we are working with all have their own terms that we must follow in order to secure our spots. In order to meet their terms, I must collect partial payments periodically.
Do you have an itinerary? The document serves as the ROUGH ITINERARY. FINAL ITINERARY will be emailed 10 days before travel.
How will we communicate during travel? We will use GroupMe during our trip. I will add the primary traveler to the group and if you would like to add additional travelers to the group chat, feel free to do so. The group chat will be created after final payments are made and final rosters are confirmed.
How many travelers will be on this trip? 40-60. I anticipate 60 based on interest of this trip.
Can I pay in full at time of registration? Yes.

Why is there an additional fee for those ages 13 and older? The pricing for older children and adults at some of the establishments we will be visiting is more than the younger children pricing.
What is the additional cost for those ages 13 and older? $10
Is transportation provided? No. You are responsible for getting to/from and around destinations we are visiting. Including airfare and rental vehicles. If you would like assistance with booking flights or rental vehicle outside of this package cost, please email me at brandi@theansweirstravel.com and I'd love to help! For private travel arrangements, I typically would charge a planning fee, however, I will waive all planning fees for those of you who are traveling with us on this trip that request my assistance or booking flights and rental vehicles to get to/from and around Lancaster, Pa.
Do children travel without parents/chaperones? No. Every child must have a chaperone/parent present. A chaperone/parent can choose to chaperone multiple children, but no one child can travel with the group without a parent/chaperone present.
I have a traditional schooler, can they travel with us? Yes. Anyone can. The trip is designed for homeschoolers and their families, friends, cousins, aunts, anyone!
Is a COVID-19 vaccination required to travel? We follow the local mandates of the places we visit. As of now, Lancaster County does not have a vaccination mandate. If you are concerned about anything COVID-19 related, I would highly recommend you purchase travel insurance, whether purchasing the policy I quote for you after you register, or another policy is completely up to you.

You will have a base per person package cost (which will include the cost of activities and admin fees for your membership level) to select from and then add-ons such as the 13+ supplement (required for anyone ages 13+). memberships (optional) as well as adding extra nights at the hotel.

- The base package is based on your membership level. If you are interested in purchasing a membership at the time of booking, you will be able to add-on the membership fee later in the booking process.
- Select total number of travelers ages 3 and OLDER from drop down menu. This is to ensure that you are NOT charged the base price for the youngins' . Later in the registration process, you will be asked to provided a TOTAL NUMBER of travelers, regardless of age, so I can have a total body count.

- Membership: if you are wanting to purchase a membership at the time of booking, you are able to add on the membership fee here. The fee is to be paid in full at time of booking and is nonrefundable. The fee is PER FAMILY so you should only be selecting (1) from the drop down menu.
- Ages 13+ Supplement: this is REQUIRED for ALL travelers ages 13+ on trip. Select the number of travelers ages 13+.
- Cork Factory Hotel: This is REQUIRED for every family traveling with us. The cost is for (5) nights. Select the number of ROOMS you will need. Additional nights can be added further along in the booking process.

- A travel insurance quote will be provided. This is optional, but highly recommended.
- I will provide a comprehensive travel insurance quote that will include cancel for any reason and interrupt for any reason coverage. If you choose not to purchase travel insurance, I will request that a travel insurance waiver be signed. This is simply me doing my job as a travel professional make sure your investment is protected. It is certainly optional, but highly recommended.
- If you would like to purchase the policy, I will send over a separate invoice for payment to be processed. The travel insurance premium will be paid directly to Travel Insured and must be paid in full at time of purchase. You have 14 days to purchase the policy from time of initial booking in order for you to secure the cancel for any reason or interrupt for any reason coverage.
- Client Agreement will be emailed to primary traveler.
- This is a requirement to secure your spot on this trip. If a deposit is paid, and the agreement is NOT received within 7 business days of deposit, your spot may be forfeited and no refund will be given.
- An updated invoice reflecting the deposit and payment schedule will be emailed to primary traveler. A link is provided on this invoice to make payment on future date (s).
- It is YOUR responsibility to make timely payments. If a payment is missed, you risk your spots being forfeited and no refund will be given.
