A winter wonderland awaits at Prague’s markets, brightly decorated with wooden huts stocked with handicrafts and delicious scents flavoring the air. Be spellbound by the medieval atmosphere of Nuremberg’s main market, and sample its renowned gingerbread. Stroll through Regensburg’s romantic Christmas market at the Thurn and Taxis Castle, savoring fresh dumplings with vanilla sauce. Get caught up in the magic of Salzburg’s markets at both Hellbrunn Palace and at Christkindlmarkt, located at the foot of the Hohensalzburg Fortress and around the venerable cathedral, which is a feast for the senses, from the warm aroma of mulled wine and Austrian pastry delights to the sights and sounds of holiday performances to the colors and textures of traditional handcrafts. And while in Vienna, visit enchanting Christmas markets from the regal Schönbrunn Palace to Vienna’s charming Maria Theresa markets.

Shoes for St. Nick
On one special night during each cruise, guests are encouraged to leave slippers we provide outside their stateroom door, just as children do throughout Europe on St. Nicholas Day. Upon waking up the next morning, they’ll find their shoes filled with treats by our AmaWaterways elves!
Tree-Trimming Party
Tinsel and garland and baubles, oh my! Guests are invited to help adorn onboard trees with festive décor. The first to find the glass pickle ornament within the tree wins a prize!

Join a city tour of WWII highlights and then walk through Nuremberg’s cobblestone streets to the Imperial Castle and 900-year-old city ramparts. Visit Nuremberg’s Christkindlesmarkt, one of the world’s largest and most famous Christmas Markets. Later in the day, cruise through the Main-Danube Canal. (B,L,D)

Regensburg is one of Germany’s best-preserved medieval cities, as well as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Join a guided walking tour showcasing the city’s architectural highlights, including the Old Town Hall and the Porta Praetoria, before visiting the Old Town Christmas Market. As an alternate option, sample some of Bavaria’s specialties—beer, sausage, and pretzels. Or bike to Walhalla's base, where you will see the neoclassical white marble temple inspired by the Parthenon in Athens. Later in the day, you’ll be treated to one of Bavaria’s most beautiful and romantic Christmas Markets at Thurn and Taxis, where you can watch artisans make their unique arts and crafts. (B,L,D)

Picturesque Passau, a fairytale city founded more than 2,000 years ago, is noted for its Gothic and Italian Baroque architecture. During the season of Advent, the city dresses in her Bavarian holiday splendor, which you will discover on your walking tour through the city and at its Christmas Market at St. Stephen’s Square—also home to its stunning cathedral. Go in search of unique crafts, including Bavarian-style houses and glass ornaments. If you prefer a more active adventure, join a guided bike ride along the Danube or choose instead to climb to the Mariahilf pilgrimage church and monastery that offers magnificent views across the old town and surrounding countryside. Linz is known for being the city of Christmas creches and its ever-popular Linzer torte. While here, you have a choice of three excursions. The first is a full-day visit to magnificent Salzburg dressed in her holiday best. Enjoy a walking tour of its UNESCO-designated Old Town, its grand cathedral, inspired by St. Peter’s Cathedral at the Vatican, and its Christmas Market at Hellbrunn Palace. Alternatively, you can choose a morning walking tour through Linz’s old city center and by the Mozart House, where he composed the Linz Symphony in only three days, as well as visit Linz’s Christmas Markets. Or you can go on a guided bike tour through Linz and along the city’s famed “Cultural Mile” and the Danube. You can visit the charming mountain town during the afternoon, Česky Krumlov, located just over the Czech-Austrian border. (B,L,D)

The awe-inspiring Benedictine Abbey, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is on full display for your enjoyment on your tour. Later in the day, set sail through the breathtaking Wachau Valley. Or, for those seeking a more active adventure, bike through the Wachau Valley to Durnstein. Once in Durnstein, join a walking tour and wine tasting. As an alternative to the walking tour of Dürnstein, the more active guest may choose to venture high above the town for a visit to the majestic ruins of Kuenringer Castle, or “Dürnstein” (‘dry stone’) castle from which Dürnstein derives its name. Alternatively, enjoy an apricot and sweets tasting. Later in the day, set sail to Krems, where you can enjoy a wine tasting or walking tour. (B,L,D)

The “City of Waltzes” offers a treasure trove of gems just waiting to be discovered. Join a tour showcasing its regal splendors, such as the majestic Opera House and the Habsburgs' former Imperial Palace, before concluding in Vienna’s historic city center. Afterward, you’ll enjoy the festivities of the Christmas Markets. If you prefer a more active adventure, then join a guided bike ride through Vienna. During the afternoon, visit the Schönbrunn Palace Christmas Market with its giant Christmas tree. In the evening, spend some free time at the beautifully decorated Rathaus Platz Christmas Market before returning to the ship. (B,L,D)

Most Christmas markets open during the last week of November until approximately Dec. 22. Check with each country’s tourist office for more information. All rates are per person in USD for cruise only, based on double occupancy in a BB category stateroom (AB category for AmaMagna) unless stated otherwise. Onboard Credit of $100 per stateroom ($50 per person) is based on double occupancy in USD and can be applied towards all onboard purchases. Promotional rates are valid on select departure for new bookings only. Savings are per stateroom, based on double occupancy. Complimentary upgrades applicable to categories BB – AB (AB – SB for AmaMagna), applies to one category upgrade, based on availability. Offers are combinable with AmaWaterways’ Past Passenger Privilege Program and Future Cruise Benefit Program. Deposit:
Each person traveling requires a deposit of $400 at the time of booking. Deposit is refundable within 6 days of a booking; after 7 days, you will receive half the deposit back.

There is a $75 per booking planning fee charge; this will be invoiced separately from your deposit and must be paid before moving forward with any travel plans. This is a fee charged by Dream Planning Pros; you can read more about our services here.

Prices are per-person, U.S. dollars, based on double occupancy of a cabin, or standard hotel room unless indicated otherwise. | Single rates are available for the cruise-only, at a supplement of plus-50% for standard rooms, plus-100% for other rooms, such as deluxe rooms and suites. | Single rates for land are available at a supplement. | Please see individual itineraries for the amount of the supplement. | Pricing accuracy is assured only at the time of printing. | If any of the cost factors increases, such as airfare, port or dock charges, fuel, insurance, taxes, surcharges, or others, we reserve the right to increase cruise or cruise tour prices without notice.
Cancellation Policy: For any cruise/land booking, whether under deposit, partially paid, or paid in full, including air packages, the following travel agent or guest-requested situations are considered cancellations and penalties will apply as noted below: changes to departure date; substitutions of itinerary; substitution of another person for original booked guest(s); or changing to a promotional fare. All cancellations must be in writing. For all air-inclusive packages canceled after issuance of an airline ticket, the air portion of the refund, if any, will be processed only after the return of the airline ticket. The following cancellation charges will be assessed for all written cancellations received before departure up to the scheduled time of departure.
Cancellation received | Following charges will apply: (Broken out by days before departure) 121 days or more is $200 per person | 120-90 days is $400 per person | 89-60 days is 35% of full fare | 59-30 days is 50% of full fare | 29-7 days is 80% of full fare | 6 days before sailing is 100% cancellation. Full Fare is defined as the full cost of any cruise, land, or air component purchased from AmaWaterways. All air purchased through AmaWaterways has a cancellation penalty of $350 per person for Economy and $600 per person for Business class. In the event you purchase a non-refundable ticket, the full fare is under penalty.
*Certain airline tickets, including all intra-Asia Flights within 90 days of departure and published price tickets, are 100% non-refundable. Penalty rates shown are for flight arrangements deposited/booked from July 1, 2014, onward. Except as otherwise provided in your Passenger Ticket Contract, there is no refund for unused services or unused portions of cruise, cruise/tour, or airfare after travel begins.

In light of the recent global events and uncertainties around travel, we wish to offer our guests additional flexibility and peace of a mind so they may continue to safeguard the wonderful plans they have made for their much-anticipated river cruise with AmaWaterways. As a result, we will offer for a limited time, special provisions which allow guests with new or existing reservations to purchase AmaWaterways Travel Waiver Plus*. AmaWaterways Travel Waiver Plus provides cancellation for any reason, up to 24 hours before the start of their AmaWaterways booked services (cruise, pre-cruise land extensions, air, etc.)
Should guests decide to cancel their cruise for any reason, they will have the following options based on the date of cancellation:
Cancellation received up to 7 days before the start of AmaWaterways services:
Future Cruise Credit** covering cancellation penalties, and the balance will be refunded based on our standard cancellation policy for services purchased through AmaWaterways.
Cancellation received between 6 days to 24 hours before the start of AmaWaterways services:
Future Cruise Credit** issued for 100% of AmaWaterways services to be used towards any sailings within 24 months of the cancellation date
For all new or existing reservations for Europe and Southeast Asia (deposited or paid in full), Travel Waiver Plus can be added up to 48 hours before the start of AmaWaterways purchased services. For Africa Safaris & Wildlife Cruises, Travel Waiver Plus, must be purchased within 90 days before sailing and once full payment has been received.
