September 18- (JFK Airport/Johannesburg) Upon arrival in Johannesburg, we will be escorted to Garden Court Sandton City Hotel

September 19- (Soweto & Johannesburg) Today, we will be enjoying a full day in Soweto and visiting the Apartheid Museum (Johannesburg).
SO-WE-TO, an acronym for South Western Township, is home to over 2 million people who, despite living in crowded and chaotic conditions, have a tangible sense of community-one which ironically, the ordered, walled, elitist northern suburbs lack. Many South Africans gave much, some gave all, to realize their goal of a democratic South Africa.
Come with us on this full-day tour which will allow us to share in the pains, struggles and, eventually, joys of a number of South Africa's greatest historical figures. Our day begins at the Hector Pieterson Museum, where we begin to unravel the cause behind the devastating riots, before travelling past Mandela House, where you have the option of visiting this small museum. No less historically significant, our next stop is the fascinating Regina Mundi Church-site of many underground meetings of, then banned, political parties. Standing in Regina Mundi, you can almost feel the tension and intensity of the undeniably brave souls that have walked through its doors, committed to changing the way of life of a nation, at all cost.
We’ve chosen to lunch in Soweto at a local favorite, Sakhumzi Restaurant. Sakhumzi  Restaurant is located in Soweto- the largest black township in South Africa. Vilakazi Street  the tourist mecca of Soweto- is where Sakhumzi opens its doors to locals and tourists, alike and provides home-cooked food with a complementary soundtrack to eat by. Our time in Soweto will be completed by sightseeing of this vibrant city.
Back in Johannesburg, we will visit the Apartheid Museum. Though it chronicles the most shameful period of South Africa's history, the knowledge and perspective you will leave this amazing site with are unlikely to be matched for years to come.
(Breakfast and Lunch Included)

September 20- (Johannesburg-Kapama Game Reserve) After an early morning breakfast, we'll drive along the spectacular 'Panorama Route', offering views of amazing scenery including the 26-kilometre Blyde River Canyon (home to the 'Three Rondavels'), Bourke's Luck Potholes' and historic God's Window. We will have lunch en route to the Kapama area of Hoedspruit, where we will transfer to our second hotel, Kapama River Lodge. Unwind and relax from the day's travel in the comfortability of your standard suite.
(Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included)

September 21- (Kapama Game Reserve) Today, we'll enjoy a full day of the views, sights and adventures of Kapama's Private Game Reserve in an open-top vehicle. This is the day to remember to bring your camera as you'll marvel at the natural surroundings of one of the most beautiful reserves in southern part of Africa.
(Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner Included)

September 22-(Cape Town) After breakfast at the hotel, we will be transferred to Hoedspruit Airport to board our (included) flight for Cape Town. Upon arrival at the Cape Town Airport, we will be transported to the Commodore Hotel (standard room).
(Breakfast Included)

September 23-(Cape Town) After breakfast, we'll enjoy a ride on a cable car to the summit of the legendary, Table Mountain (weather-dependent) for a view of the city and the most astounding birds-eye views of the southernmost tip of Africa. Spend time at the peak of Table Mountain exploring the summit further-by experiencing any one of three hiking trails that start at the Upper Cable Station. Table Mountain is part of a certified World Heritage Site and a major part of the Cape Floristic Region-the single richest area of flora in the world. With the sheer amount of vegetation on the mountain, over 1,460 different species of plants, lizards, insects and birds to be seen, you are sure to find something to be in awe of, all day long. You can join audio tours, guided walks, just grab a coffee or beverage at the cafe or do some shopping at the gift shop. With whatever you decide to do, you'll enjoy the scenic backdrop you do it in. This is a great spot to sit and soak up the commanding 360-degree views of Cape Town, Table Bay, nearby peaks of surrounding mountains and the rest of the Table Mountain National Park, overlooking the cable-way.

September 24-(Robben Island, Cape Town, Khayelistsha & Gugulethu) Start the morning by strolling with our tour-guide to the V&A Waterfront Ferry Terminal where we will board our 3½ guided tour of Robben Island. Robben Island is a truly significant landmark both, in geographical and historical terms to South Africa and the world, as a whole. Our guided tour will also include a look the maximum security prison where Nelson Mandela was largely incarcerated, after which, we will return to the V&A Waterfront.
Back in Cape Town, we'll visit the riveting District Six Museum for a thought-provoking, yet sharp reminder of South Africa's apartheid past and the small neighborhood that became its unwitting epicenter in the 1960s and 1970s. We will tour Langa Township, the oldest apartheid housing scheme in the Cape-visiting a local market, an arts and crafts center as well as a traditional healer. After, we will visit a local bed-and-breakfast in addition to a 'crèche'-a type of community center, established to provide fun activities and safe haven to local children.
No international trip would be complete without a first-hand view of everyday life in a location, so we will also enjoy a hands-on experience of life in the small townships of Khayelistsha and Gugulethu.
Back in Cape Town, a fantastic evening with the local awaits as we will have the opportunity to enjoy a home-hosted dinner with a Cape Town family.
(Breakfast & Dinner Included)

September 25-(Cape Town/Wine Country) Today, we'll have one of our most relaxing days of touring (perhaps, for a more 'intoxicating' reason) than others as we will be experiencing South Africa's wine country! Traveling through wine country, you'll be transported through unbelievable scenery. When we arrive, you'll have the opportunity to stroll casually through more of the same. With a wine glass in hand, you'll learn about the area’s rich history, and, of course, the process of wine-making. Lunch will also be served at the winery. Throughout our expansive wine country tour, we will visit the small, charming towns of Franschhoek- locally famous for its gourmet food offerings- and Stellenbosch- a hilltop, university town offering amazing birds-eye views of the whole of wine country. As if the natural scenery weren't enough, we will pass by the Huguenot Monument while traversing the famously picturesque, Helshoogte Mountain Pass. Don't forget to peek into the many quaint shops along the way to purchase a couple of bottles of local wine to take home!
(Breakfast & Lunch Included)

September 26-(South African Peninsula) After breakfast, we will meet our tour guide to set out on a full day's tour of the beautiful peninsula region. As we ride along the iconic Millionaire's Paradise route through areas such as Camps Bay, Clifton and Llandudno, your wonder will equal your anticipation as we approach Hout Bay's harbor where we will embark upon a short cruise. After our cruise, we'll take yet another glorious drive as we travel up Chapman's Peak Drive. This cliff-side road and unbelievable ocean views will transport into another world as we enter Table Mountain National Park's Cape of Good Hope. Near the cape's peak, you'll have the opportunity to explore your surroundings and take part in the activities the park has to offer (Funical Ticket Included). On our descent from the park, we'll make a lunch stop in Simon's Town at Bertha's Restaurant, a longtime favorite of tourists with its comfortable, yet cosmopolitan atmosphere and its perfectly placed terrace offering views of the area (including Old Town Pier and False, Kalk and Gordon's Bay). Before we leave Simon's Town to return to Cape Town for the evening, we'll also have a chance to see penguins at Boulders Beach.
(Breakfast & Lunch Included)

September 27-(Zimbabwe/Zambezi River-VISA REQUIRED) After breakfast, we'll be picked up and transferred across the Zimbabwe border to the Victoria Falls area. Here, we will find our hotel for the next two nights, the Commodore Hotel. Get acquainted with your room and relax for a while, but not too long because you will not want to miss our late-afternoon activity! We will be picked up and taken to the scenic Zambezi riverfront for a sunset cruise aboard the Zambezi Explorer. On the Zambezi River cruise, you'll see some of the quintessential animals that you may have missed during the rest of your trip, including, but not limited to: elephant, hippopotamus, rhinocerous and antelope; in addition to things you may have already seen before, such as: buffalo, crocodiles and countless number of species of birds. Even if animals are not quite you're thing, the brilliant colors of the ever-changing sunset will give you more than enough content to keep you occupied for the entire trip.
(Breakfast Included)

September 28-(Zimbabwe/Victoria Falls-VISA REQUIRED) Following hotel breakfast, we will depart for our guided tour of Victoria Falls. This is a once in a lifetime experience as you will be so graced to experience 1 of 7 of the world's greatest natural wonders as the falls span the entire 1688 meter width of the river to form the largest water curtain in the world (even greater than Niagara Falls)! Though the sights and sounds of the waterfall will be commanding the majority of your attention, prepare to also be moved by both, the sheer power of the thunderous waterfall as well as the many sights to observe at ground-level such as the mighty river, birds and wildlife. We'll return to the hotel to allow enough time for leisure activities of your choice before heading out to dinner. For our final night on the African continent, we've chosen a special venue and experience-a sort of commemorative send-off to summize all that we've experienced thus far-at The Boma Dinner & Drum Show! The Boma is a self-contained entertainment center as it offers traditional dance performances, fortune telling, face painting and more; immersing you in culture from your 'chitenge' cloth to an interactive drum circle.
(Breakfast & Dinner Included)

September 29- (VFA Airport-Victoria Falls & JNB Airport-Johannesburg) After a hotel breakfast, we'll head to Victoria Falls Airport, catching our flight to Johannesburg Airport (Included) where we will transfer to the international terminal for our return flight to JFK Airport (Included).
(Breakfast Included)
