DAY 1: AKWAABA! WELCOME TO GHANA
Arrive at Kotoka International Airport in Accra Ghana and transfer to your hotel. Check into your rooms and after a brief orientation by guide, we will have a Welcome Dinner together at the hotel.

DAY 2: ACCRA CITY TOUR
On this day, we explore the capital city of Ghana, visit the National Museum of Ghana, drive through Old Accra also called Jamestown, and visit the WEB DuBois Centre. The group will visit Black Star Gate, the second-largest independence square in the world, and Memorial Park. We will experience Ghana’s rich history and the events to the independence of Ghana, a celebration of the prominent Ghanaian President Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
After lunch visit the National Centre for Arts and Crafts which has a varied collection of Ghanaian hand-crafted items on sale. Here you will have the opportunity to try your bargaining skills to shop in an open-air market for yourself or family and friends back home.
Evening: Meet Tailors and dressmakers for a display of ready-made clothes to place an order for a custom-made outfit.

DAY 3: NKYINKYIM MUSEUM & SCHOOL VISIT
Depart Accra to Ada to visit one of the biggest outdoor museums in Ghana. It is situated on several acres of land in Ada and its name is derived from the Akan Adinkra symbol, The Nkyinkim symbol, which means Twisted. The museum is an evolving art installation/monument of sculptured pieces, portraying the story of the African slave trade and the resilience of our ancestors.
Proceed after lunch to visit the Royal Tema School which specializes in retaining and uplifting African Cultural Values. This visit will give you an opportunity to interact with the school kids and teachers and also make a donation to them if desired.

DAY 4: TRAVEL FROM ACCRA TO KUMASI
Breakfast and check out of the hotel.
Proceed to Kumasi and stop en route at interesting points including the Ejisu Besease Shrine and Asante Traditional buildings. This shrine was consulted by Yaa Asantewaa, the female Asante War General who led the Asante's to fight the British in 1900. Visit a traditional spiritual shrine.

DAY 5: NAMING CEREMONY / CRAFT VILLAGES
Breakfast
Depart in the morning to pay a courtesy call on a local Chief to participate in a traditional Ghanaian naming ceremony. Participants will be given Ghanaian names and attributes. It would be interesting to compare your given attributes with who you are today. Continue to visit a few Ashanti crafts villages including, Adanwomase well known for the traditional Kente cloth weaving. Observe weavers exhibit their skills in producing the clothes adorned some of which are a preserve for the Ashanti Kings. Ntonso - is noted for its indigenous artisans in Adinkra textile printing. Adinkra uses traditional symbols that express the spiritual, moral, political, and socio-cultural philosophies of the Akan people. In the Ntonso Adinkra village, you will be able to try your hand at creating your own designs.

DAY 6: KUMASI –ASSIN MANSO – ELMINA Breakfast and hotel check-out
Depart Kumasi for Cape Coast in the Central Region. The journey today will be a solemn day in honor of our ancestors. On our journey, we drive through the forest and several farming villages, then stop to visit Assin Manso, where enslaved Africans had their last bath in preparation for auction at the nearby slave market. It is also the burial site of the remains of the two ancestors exhumed from New York and Kingston and re-interred on Emancipation Day 1998. A special ceremony will be performed at the river in remembrance of our ancestors.

DAY 7: CEREMONY OF REMEMBRANCE AT CAPE COAST DUNGEON

Proceed to visit the Cape Coast Castle which was originally started by the Swedes in 1652. It served as the headquarters and seat of the British colonial government until 1877. Go on a comprehensive tour of the Castle, the Slave Dungeons and the West African Heritage Museum. Here Dr. Cooke will lead us through a ceremony to remember all of those whose names we know and those we don't know but who still hold space in our collective memory and hearts.
Lunch (on own account)
Depart to visit Kakum National Park. Go on a walk of the “Kuntan Trail” with its countless trees with medicinal properties. For the young at heart experience the “Canopy Walkway” suspended 100 feet from the forest ground for a panoramic view of the flora and fauna of the remaining vestiges of the rainforest. Day 8: CEREMONY OF RETURN / BISA ABREWA MUSEUM
DAY 9: ELMINA - ACCRA
Breakfast and hotel check-out
Depart Elmina as you drive along the coastal area back to Accra.
Check into your hotel and the rest of the day is free. Meet Tailors and dressmakers to fit your clothes.
Evening: We will visit a Ghanaian home to interact with the family and for your farewell dinner.

DAY 10: FINAL SHOPPING AND GOODBYES
Last day free for packing and personal activities
Transfer to the airport in Accra for departure.
