This tour gives you the opportunity to observe the striking contrasts that make Athens such a fascinating city. Our expert guides will take you to see the Panathenaic Stadium where the first modern Olympic Games were held in 1896 (short stop). Continue and pass by the Temple of Olympian Zeus, the Hadrian`s Arch, the Parliament and the Monument of the Unknown Soldier, the Academy, the University, the National Library, the Constitution Square (Syntagma). At the Acropolis you will visit the architectural masterpieces of the Golden Age of Athens: The Propylaea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally “the harmony between material and spirit”, the monument that “puts order in the mind”, the Parthenon. Continue and visit a must-see in Athens, the place where finally the statues found their home and admire the wonders of the classical era: The New Acropolis Museum, voted by the Sunday Times as the 3rd best museum of the world. N.B. 1) Due to certain restrictions in the visiting hours of the New Acropolis museum the order of the program can change. N.B. 2) Clients staying at the coast will be transferred back to their hotels with the Cape Sounion Tour bus.

Visit one of the most important archaeological sites of Greece : THE ANCIENT SACRED ISLAND OF DELOS ! Only a 45 minute boat ride away from Mykonos Delos was the centre of the Cyclades of the ancient world, the island of light, birthplace of Apollon and Artemis, home to the first multicultural civilization and trade. There is a lot to see: having been inhabited between 2500 and 69 b.C. Delos boasts of many treasures remaining from these times like the ancient market place Agora, the famous terrace of the Naxos lions, the holy lake, the ancients living quarters and theatre that give you a lively vision of the daily life then; especially the houses of Dionysos, Kleopatra, the Trident, the Masks, the Dolphins with their mosaics are a fantastic experience of art not to be missed. Furthermore there are the Temple of Isis, the Egyptian goddess, the Roman water system and cisterns and the wonderful museum with plenty of breathtaking mosaics, statues and many more objects found during the excavations. On our guided tour you depart at 10pm from the old pier in Mykonos Town and you return at 2.30 pm. If you wish to remain a little bit longer you can also take the last boat back at 3 pm in order to have some time at leisure or maybe climb on Mount Kynthos to enjoy the view over all the surrounding Cycladic islands.

Caldera – Oia (Volcano–Hot Springs–Thirassia–Oia–Sunset)

It departs from the main port of Athinios (Thira) at approx..09:45 hrs with a traditional wooden sailing boat.

 

After a short trip of 20 minutes, it reaches the small port of Nea Kameni, where the active volcano is. Your time there is for about 1 hour and 15 minutes where you can walk up and visit this wild landscape with the different volcanic rocks and the active craters of the volcano, where there is still smoke coming out and keenly smells sulfur.

To continue, the boat will depart for the island of Palaia Kameni, where the hot springs are located. Inside the small bay of Agios Nikolaos, the water temperature is 30-35 degrees Celcius but it constantly mixes with seawater. The boat stays for about 30 minutes, enough time since there is no beach, but you have to climb down a ladder of the boat into the sea and swim a distance of about 30 meters to the interior of the small bay, where the mud baths are. You need to be able to swim this distance & back. Swimming is your own responsibility.

Thirassia, Fisherman Island, free time for lunch (not included) or swimming (1,5h).

Oia - After Thirassia, sail back to the port where you started and take a bus (included) to Oia After arriving at Oia, walk approx.. (5-10 minutes) to reach the top of the village; free time to enjoy the most beautiful sunset. Please be back in time for the bus. (Guide will not be with you in Oia)

Return from Oia by bus after sunset (included) and drop off at the nearest drop-off point.
