Travel Insurance Notice

Travel Insurance is always a great add on because no one can see the future. Unexpected incidents that prevent you from traveling or interrupt your travel could occur and without travel insurance, you will lose your hard-earned money.

Payments

Payment for travel insurance must be made in full and cannot be paid in installments. If buying the travel insurance when paying a deposit, the deposit + insurance payment will be due. Travel Insurance can be purchased at any time before you depart for your trip, even if you initially decline it.

Travel Insurance Notes

There are two main options for travel insurance: Basic and
Cancel For Any Reason (CFAR).

Basic insurance can be purchased up until 24hrs before your trip.

CFAR insurance can only be purchased within 14 days of making an initial payment towards the trip being covered. This is normally a deposit, but could also be a flight or excursion if those are being covered under the insurance and purchased prior to making a deposit.

For stand alone travel insurance quotes, you may choose to purchase through our external link or have Kbyeee Getaways generate the quote for you.

All travel insurance quotes generated by Kbyeee Getaways will include Cancel for Any Reason travel insurance and will cover the duration of your trip if you are within the time period to qualify for CFAR. If you only want basic insurance, this must be requested.

At a minimum, your trip will be covered for the total cost of your trip rounded up to the next round number. For example: If your trip costs $2247.34 total, you will be covered for $2500, unless you request a different amount of coverage. This is to provide a buffer for any additional travel-related purchases not included in the package such as excursions or transportation not booked with Kbyeee Getaways.

You do have the option to only cover your non-refundable portion of your trip only and still receive full coverage for your entire trip. Here are some examples:
  • If your trip becomes 100% non-refundable after a certain timeframe period, you could just insure the entire trip costs.
  • If you’re eligible to get a partial refund (for example, 50%) up until a certain date, you are welcome to cover only the percentage (in this case 50%) that becomes non-refundable after the timeframe.

Coverage

Travel insurance coverages can include but are not limited to:

  • Lost luggage
  • Missed connections or train delays
  • Emergency air lift assistance
  • Emergency medical and/or dental assistance
  • Trip Interruption- Emergencies at home affecting self and/or immediate family (children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces)
  • Trip Cancellation - Due to natural disasters, travel alerts or warnings, airport shutdown, military requirements, illness, accidents, documented loss of necessary identification (ie: passport)
  • Trip Delay - Due to documented common carrier delays, inclement weather, natural disasters, unannounced strike, missed connections due to documented common carrier delays
  • Death of self and/or immediate family (children, grandchildren, aunts, uncles, brothers, sisters, nephews, nieces)
  • Supplier default and/or bankruptcy
  • Medical assistance due to injury during an excursion (if added)
  • Any other covered circumstances as outlined in the offered travel insurance policy

Some coverages are considered add-ons and are not included in basic travel insurance. You understand these add-ons will increase the costs of your travel insurance should you decide they are necessary.

Travel insurance payments are non-refundable and even if you file an insurance claim for your getaway and receive a payment, you will not receive a refund for the amount you paid for the travel insurance.

For specific questions regarding coverage, you will be referred to the travel insurance supplier.

MULTIPLE OCCUPANCY CONSIDERATIONS

This section applies to any accommodation occupancy over single occupancy.

If your travel plans include a shared room (i.e., double occupancy), each traveler is strongly encouraged to either:

  1. Purchase separate travel insurance policies, or
  2. Be explicitly named on a shared travel insurance policy at the time of booking.

Insurance for Two or More Travelers on One Policy
If one traveler purchases travel insurance and names their roommate(s) as a covered traveler on the same policy, both individuals are considered insured.

  • This applies to both basic coverage and CFAR coverage. In this case, any traveler may cancel and potentially qualify for reimbursement, per policy terms.
  • All parties must reside in the same state to be named as a covered traveler on the same policy.
  • If one or more traveler(s) booked to share accommodations cancels or interrupts their trip due to any of the covered unforeseen reasons or other covered events and the other traveler(s) do not cancel or interrupt their trip, they will be reimbursed up to the maximum benefit amount shown in the Schedule of Benefits on the policy, for the additional cost incurred as a result of a change in the per person occupancy rate for prepaid non-refundable travel arrangements.

Separate Insurance Policies
If each traveler purchases their own individual insurance policy, each person’s protection only applies to their own portion of the trip.

If one cancels and the other(s) remain(s):

  • The remaining traveler(s) is/are responsible for any new costs associated with occupancy changes (i.e., moving from double to single occupancy rate).
  • These increased costs are not covered under their individual travel insurance.

Only One Insured Traveler
If only one person is insured, and the roommate(s) is/are not named on the insured’s policy AND does not have their own policy:

  • Only the insured traveler may file a claim or cancel with protection.
  • If the uninsured traveler(s) cancels, the insured person may be financially impacted (price increases due to occupancy change), and those extra costs are not guaranteed to be covered.
  • CFAR protection only applies to named insureds. A non-insured roommate is not eligible for reimbursement under someone else’s CFAR policy.
To avoid surprise expenses, we recommend roommates either purchase insurance together on one policy or confirm coverage details before booking.

Cancellation

14 Day Free Look Period
If you are not satisfied for any reason, you may cancel your policy within 14 days of the purchase of your coverage by providing an authorized insurance representative the cancellation notice. You will be refunded if:

  • There has been no incurred loss
  • You have not departed on your trip
  • You have not filed a claim under the policy
