In 2025, Travelmation advisor Gaynel Senka reached a milestone few advisors ever achieve: $4 million in annual sales. According to coverage by TravelAge West, she was the first Travelmation advisor to hit that mark in a single calendar year. Even more impressive, she's now matched that same $4 million total for 2026 by mid-February.
Senka has been a member of TravelJoy since 2022, and stories like hers are exactly why we love working with travel advisors. Every day, we get to see entrepreneurs build thriving businesses around their passion for travel, and we’re grateful to play even a small role in helping advisors like Gaynel grow.
But Senka’s path to becoming one of the top-producing advisors in the industry didn’t start with a grand plan to build a travel business. Like many advisors, it began simply by helping friends and family plan trips.
“I started out as a brand new travel advisor, having helped friends and family with many trips just for fun,” Senka says. “Once I found out I could earn money doing this, I became an agent with Travelmation and my book of business took off very quickly.”
She launched her business just before the pandemic, a challenging time to enter the travel industry. At the time, Senka was working as a full-time nurse and her husband was a full-time pastor. What started as a side endeavor soon evolved into something much bigger.
“We did not start out thinking this would be a full-time career,” she says. “But it has become that for both of us now.”
Through the pandemic and the travel rebound that followed, Senka continued building her book of business year after year. Today, she focuses primarily on group and corporate travel, including family and friends groups, as well as corporate incentive trips.
When asked about the key to her growth, Senka points to a few simple fundamentals.
“Honesty, quick response times, and building confidence and trust with my clients,” she says. “Satisfied travelers have led to referrals, and each trip I book I learn something to use for future business.”
Her approach is also highly personal. Rather than relying only on email or forms, she prioritizes real conversations with clients.
“I get on the phone with clients and talk with them about their trip,” she explains. Her own enthusiasm often becomes part of the experience for travelers themselves.
“I love when I am on the phone with a client and they say things like, ‘You’re so excited about our trip, how could we not book it!’”
For Senka, that excitement reflects how seriously she takes her role. “I think it's important for them to know how much I value them as individuals and want to help them create the best trip possible.”
As her business has grown, Senka has relied on systems to stay organized and maintain a high level of service for her clients.
“TravelJoy has been a lifesaver for me,” she says. “I use it on a daily basis to manage all of my trips.”
From collecting credit card authorizations and terms and conditions to sending automated emails for different types of trips, the platform helps streamline the operational side of her business.
“Whether it is a scheduled email, a reminder to follow up, or sending a ‘have a great trip’ note, TravelJoy helps me stay organized and efficient.”
For advisors just getting started, Senka encourages building strong systems early while still maintaining a personal touch.
“Follow up with clients, build your system, collect payment authorizations and signed terms and conditions acknowledgements,” she advises.
Automation can help manage the workload as a business grows, but it shouldn’t replace the human element.
“Automate everything you can, but find a way to make each client feel personally valued and cared for.”
For Senka, that balance between efficient systems and genuine relationships has been the foundation of a travel business that continues to grow year after year.
